Last night I watched Judgement in Nuremberg again, for the 11th time. Time to get preachy.
This time I watched to see every single instance where an everyday person could have done the right thing and saved a person
to see, what can everyday people do and what people really did.
This movie is real life, it was taken from transcripts, so these are real actions real people took.
So in little ways, and it all adds up to a big picture, many people did the moral thing and the legal thing. They refused to wear a swastika, they defended people who were attacked . They refused to falsely accuse people.
Where people failed, they did not do the moral thing and they did not follow the law. The police did not charge the attackers. People made false accusations. They made false judgements. Each instance adds up to a bad society.
the servants who said they could do nothing could have encouraged their son to be a conscientious objector. They could have protested the death camp, they could have resigned from working for a war criminal. Yes, it has a cost but the cost of not doing that was far far greater.
we must follow our consciences and remember that each small action we take reinforces our personal and social belief that each individual has value.
thank you for listening
do not give up being a good person, it is our greatest weapon against evil

Successful op & vinyl shopping on Sydney Rd today. Picked up a new vinyl and a couple of bits and pieces for my place. The Salvoâs closest to Moreland Rd was the best I walked into. Savers was in and out, way too many people in there.

I walked in that vinyl store, it seemed purely metal / punk focused in selection. Iâm not in my metal phase any longer so I didnât look around for too long haha.
The best vinyl store on the street (in my opinion) is Round & Round. I used to work almost across the road from it, loved spending lunchtime break sifting through their records.
I also walked past a record store bar that looked cool (Ringo Barr).

Tonight I am rewatching Return of the Jedi before I nervously dive into episodes 1 to 3 next week. Then a nice hot shower. Iâve showered in the morning my whole life, but I think night showering is superior for early rising. I dawdle too much in the morning.
SituationCake@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
When I had a job with early starts I would shower in the evenings. It worked well. Plus, there is something nice about being freshly clean and getting into bed.

I am old.
I saw the original at the cinema when it first came out. In 1975.
a simple story of a farm boy from a podunk country town. I could relate to that.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Alright Iâm full of burger and keen for another nap.
Catfish@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Procrastination. I ought be packing. Instead I am turning a brick into a frog door stopper.

Dawnguard gives you crossbows! Though I prefer travelling light and using bound weapons, personally.
I also love to go wood elf archer. đ
I tried going full Nord warrior so Iâd pick the Stormcloak path. But I just hate the Stormcloaks and Ulfric. Even on my Nord build, I always go Empire.

Twelvies on the internet are so annoying
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Yep. Iâm done with meat. My stomach is killing me.

Thank you :)
I only cut meat out because I was lazy and I canât believe how much better I feel. Iâll try chicken tomorrow and see what happens. If it doesnât work out, then veggo it is!

I got a load of dvds, including a few whole series, today. Looking forward to watching Easy Rider and other faves with commentary.
sadly, I think commentaries are just not a common thing for new movies anymore
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Iâm fan of Easy Rider as wellđ Iâve seen it maybe 15 times? Itâs weird haha.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
15 ! Iâm impressed, Iâve only seen it twice âŚlol . This one has commentary by Dennis Hopper. đ
I got Singing in the Rain with commentary and The Bride of Frankenstein with a doco and commentary by a film historian. And loads of other movies too, most double disc sets and still in the wrapper. Iâm pretty chuffed and excited. đ

Quick note on The Fountain :
Aronofsky is obsessed with making movies about obsession. In this case, a physician driven to find a permanent cure for death (and try to save his loving wife)
Thus far, itâs not my favourite in the Aronofsky catalogue ,however, there is a beautiful story here. Itâs confusing initially but that isnât a bad thing sometimes. The viewer is forced to either, make sense of it, or move on.

Thatâs the one. I donât think Itâs a bad movie. Iâm just weighing it against the rest of the directors efforts.(Iâm currently reviewing all of them with a focus on his singular style)
I have not seen the Scorpion King yet, but Iâm guessing my favourite movie is way worse đ
just_kitten@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
That was a really long catch-up but Iâm kind of drained now and found myself alarmingly almost nodding off at times. Iâm glad for it though, because it forced me to vacuum and tidy and clean the bathroom and give the kitchen floor a long overdue mop.
Kind of donât want to cook tomorrow because Iâll have to clean up again sigh. But this is life.
Was so frosty outside with that cool wind! Iâll be sleeping well tonight, I hope. Tomorrow I need to wake the fuck up. Do the ONE THING that is holding me back with commencing my uni fieldwork and cook and then go out on Monday to do it without feeling like throwing up because of the shame of procrastination.
Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Chanced it and got rained on in the hills.
Man, Meyers-Creed Road is soooo pretty with all the ferns and it would have been gorgeous had I not been freezing my arse off.

Venom: The Last Dance was good. I didnât understand most of the storyline but I did appreciate the comedy. 4/5 hobbits
I have a love/hate relationship with popcorn.

Thereâs a retro event on at Tallboy and Moose right now. We might go, but Iâm taking the girlfriend to dinner and a show in the city, so timing will need to make it worth it
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Damn it!
I hate this bloody self service bloody nonsense at department stores, I didnât even notice the security tag! Can I get it off myself or do I have to take it back đ
dumblederp@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Got any strong magnets (rare earth), check on youtbe. I think they just unlock.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Take it back, with the docket. The cashier will be able to remove the tag. The docket is essential.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
yup, this happens all the time, the cashiers/help desk donât even question it
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Ah dammit thanks đ
SituationCake@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Be warned, you might trigger the beepers on the way in. Show docket if any staff question you.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
A pair of needle nose pliers and squeeze the round bit. But if it has dye in it, itâll drip.
Probably better to take it back.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Dammit! thanks
melbaboutown@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Ugh⌠I forgot and washed new items in with others and itâs transferred a chemical stink to them. Almost all of that type of clothing and the most annoying for me to replace. -_- Trying to remove the smell with baking soda and vinegar.
To add insult to injury the new clothing isnât all that great. It better not have ruined my usual stuff
melbaboutown@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Ugh⌠I think I planted everything way too late. Iâve just planted the pumpkins out and already the leaves are starting to fall.
Iâm wondering if I should make that compost bin to dispose of the leaves but it requires buying a drill (which I would probably have to do in person due to thieves) and then either getting the (expensive) outdoor bin delivered or trying to scrape out some time for someone to drive me to get it. I could use a plastic tub I have but theyâre a bit small and not uv safe so could crumble apart and leave compost everywhere.
And I wonder if I would even use the compost. Getting a bit discouraged about gardening. Lately it seems everything I do here just backfires and becomes more trouble than itâs worth.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Yea I do. Some of the waxy leaves take a bit longer though. Is good stuff!
SituationCake@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
How many leaves to dispose of? A whole deciduous tree or just the old garden prunings? If itâs not many, a zero effort alternative is just scatter the leaves around the garden beds. They will dry or rot depending on the weather, act as mulch for a while, and then breakdown into the soil. Natures compost, just like in real environments. If you have foodstuffs you want to dispose of, thatâs different and composting is the way to go.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Quite a lot from an a-hole neighbourâs deciduous tree, also grass trimmings from invasive grass originating from another neighbour.
I could do that but it looks really messy and Karens try to report my yard
