Had a bad dream that I was at the airport leaving on a trip and I was being… horribly inefficient. Dropping things, forgetting to scan things or press buttons, then got to the end and realized I’d forgotten my passport. Not enough to call a nightmare but definitely an unsettling dream!

It’s not covid according to the fresh test but I’m still not feeling great. Went to the doctor and then slept all day.
The zucchini are still sending out a few male flowers but fewer, and females are only just budding again. A bit concerned about whether the blossoms kept being dropped due to heat stress as that could potentially make the existing fruit bitter and toxic. :/

I opened a jar of simmer sauce (garlic and honey I think), you know those ready made marinades for chicken. It says use within 3 days. I opened it on Sunday and only used half. No mold that I can see - probably okay to finish today?

You guys see the Switch 2 announcement? Looks like an iterative improvement so I’m more interested in the games.
It will be interesting to see how a Switch 2 goes in this world of handhelds and SteamOS. The original Switch was just about the only dedicated gaming handheld when it came out, with the benefits of the detachable controllers and docking into the TV. That space is cluttered with handhelds with more open platforms, and its not the only one with detachable controllers anymore.

Also of note Switch 2 won’t really have any competition.
I don’t consider the steam deck or anything else coming out to actually catch the attention of everyday people because they’re too obscure to people who aren’t deep into their tech and also pricing is a lot higher.
Ask a kid about Switch and they’ll know what it is and most likely have played one. They wouldn’t have any knowledge of any other portable console.

Interesting. I was somewhat keen on the switch, but never placed it particularly high up on my list because the selection of games were pretty limited, and it was a bit pricey for me
I’m sure the 2nd one will still get a fair few sales and have a bit of appeal, but I’d see it as mostly appealing to the millennial crowd who grew up with OG Nintendo games and really just want to play them in a portable form factor that isn’t a phone. I don’t think it would have a lot of appeal to younger people who might have just gotten or been interested in the OG switch because it was the best dedicated portable gaming system you could get at the time
Honestly, a decently large amount of the people I know in the age range of 30-45 either have a switch and love it, or really want one. I don’t know many people in their 20s or below who thinks much of it at all. Just my 2c

You’ll find from this report that the demographic for switch users are pretty large over the 20-25 year olds in the beginning of 2023.

It’s got a pretty universal appeal which I think it’s one of its strengths.
The question is is Switch 2 going to be a proper successor or just a slight upgrade.
The Wii to Wii U transition didn’t go as well so I don’t it doesn’t happen here as well.

You have to remember Nintendo is the go to for parents buying a console for their kids. I wouldn’t get one because I could just emulate any games I want in my pc but it would be perfect for my kids when they’re older

The switch is wildly popular among 9-12 year olds. Then they upgrade to other consoles/PC. Pokemon, Zelda, Mario are massive in that age range. 90’s kids are probably going in for the nostalgia. Nintendo Online gives them back their old Gameboy games.

Yeah. Disappointed that I won’t be able to use my skyward sword joycons and have to totally kit out a new switch again though.
I love my switch and being able to use it as a handheld when away from home or if I want to use my tv for something else.
I’ll be looking to see the price of it, I think it could go for 600 or 700.
I’m curious about a few details like if it’ll improve the performance of some of the games already out.

It’s been nearly two weeks since covid and I’m back to work tomorrow. I don’t feel too bad until I try to do anything, then I get tired out really quickly. At this stage I’m not sure if it’s because I am still unwell or just the result of having not done anything for ages. I also have a lingering cough, hopefully having to talk lots at work won’t trigger that. My job is about 50% talking, so if I can’t do that without coughing it will be an issue.
I also have lots of life admin slowly piling up, and have had to reschedule a few appointments. I did just finish a week with an activity tracker for the study I am taking part in - they will log a distinct lack of activity for me this week.

Been watching way too much Alter, a YT channel that showcases indie horror short movies (the longest one I’ve seen is 30mins, the shortest is just under 5mins).
Last night I was sleeping on the couch (for the aircon), and I woke suddenly. I looked up and saw my partner facing away from me, facing the fridge, butt nekkid. He then sidestepped and seemed to rush away down the hallway out of sight.
For less than a second that felt like an eternity, my lizard brain said “oh shit I’ve manifested horror in my house wtf wtf wtf” until my logical rational brain kicked in and made me yell “hey!”
He came back shocked, I scared him 😂😭
Slept in the bed the rest of the night.
I can’t get that image of him out of my head, facing away nude and seeming inhumanly fast when he went down the hallway. 😂😂
I mean, I’m gonna watch more today anyway because I’m a horror fiend, but maaaad that felt so wild 😂
