You were a horrible little troll and got your comeuppance. Enjoy your ban.

Exactly.
He wasn’t banned for no reason. Every banned user says that and then a mod will show a ton of very offensive behaviour.

because reddit admins are surely always in the right and never overzealous about banning for the slightest transgression or even non-transgressions, right?
…right?

You’ve posted this to a lot of communities that don’t care for this so this is where you should actually post your question !reddit@lemmy.world or !reddit@lemmy.ml
Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Nah, we’ll say the same thing there.
HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 year ago
Well it at least frees people who don’t subscribe to the Reddit communities

I’m more curious why they banned you.
ShepherdPie@midwest.social 1 year ago
Ban evasion. I had literally this same exact situation happen and lost my 10 year old account. I talked about piracy in /r/Movies and got banned then sitewide permabanned for accidently commenting there from a different account.
archonet@lemy.lol 1 year ago
why would you want to? it hasn’t been worth using in well over a year or two now.
cranakis@reddthat.com 1 year ago
I’m not banned from Reddit. I deleted that shit and suggest you do the same.

I assume many on Lemmy face similar situations and also switched to Lemmy because of a similar reason I don’t know that I’ve actually seen someone admit that they’re on Lemmy because they were banned from Reddit.
Most people just don’t like Reddit for some reason or another. Pretty sure Lemmy as a whole gained a lot of population when Reddit did their API changes- that’s when I joined Lemmy. I used Baconreader for years, and I refused to swap to their dogshit mobile app.

Yeah, I could be on Reddit all day if I wanted to… I don’t want to, it’s radioactive at this point. Might as well go frolicking in the dump.

We need more people here, so just have some fun with us.

Take it on the chin like a champ and move on. Reddit is for simps and posers anyway
DicJacobus@lemmy.world 1 year ago
walk away from reddit. try to find a similar community to whatever it was you lost, here. if not, make one! if that fails. get a new device, and only use reddit when you’re away from your usual internet networks.
but seriously, its easier to just walk away from reddit. reddit is an echo chamber of extremism and hopeless cluenessness. on all ends of the spectrum.
The same thing happened to me and I largely stopped caring after I discovered Lemmy. its been a lot better for my mental health too.
NeoNachtwaechter@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I have used 3-4 different reddit accs, back in the days, when I was still there.
Sooner or later, I got some ban or other.
I simply used the next one and that was that.
When you are unable to do that, find out how they could identify you as the same natural person.
Some ideas:
The same app/browser? (without any privacy settings)
The same IP address?
The same E-mail?
The same way of swearing? 😉Tehhund@lemmy.world 1 year ago
When I got banned I tried to create a new account several times and used up several clever usernames which were immediately banned. So I gave up on having a Reddit account. Several months later I decided to try again, this time with a username that was just a random string of digits and using a brand-new browser. I think I was on a cellular connection instead of my home internet when I created the new account. For whatever reason it worked that time. Maybe the fingerprinting isn’t as effective if you haven’t logged into Reddit for several months?
Bullybeard@lemm.ee 1 year ago
Same shit happened to me it’s why I’m here, ended up being banned on even my 3 year old account… As far as I reckon it’s a device ban,so if you really want to keep using reddit try it on a different phone or computer Although I’d love if someone figured it out how exactly it works because I kept getting shadowbanned as well
Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 1 year ago
No, you’re not the first to ask, and the answer is usually “Good. Maybe you could use more time away from Reddit.”
Mediocre_Bard@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Seriously, just walk away from Reddit. You will feel better.
