Yes, it’s real.
As a father of 2 kids, I can say that this is less obnoxious than about a dozen things we’ve been given.

Any toy with a speaker is a terrible idea.
Any battery-powered toys that makes noise is a terrible idea…
The kid will hit himself or others with it because its a hammer. This is a bad product design
Hogfather is such a great piece of work
You gotta give the kid more tools. If they only have a hammer, everything will look like a nail.
Eh, it’s also a bit of a teaching opportunity with kids. A decent parent will teach kids which things are okay to hit and which ones aren’t, and this is something that can help with that. Someone’s probably going to get hit once or twice yeah. But kids also get mad when they can’t stick forks in outlets. I don’t see this toy being any worse than a sword or gun toy.
Having a kid? Indeed terrible idea
Baby’s first steam hammer.
STEAM
Gotta get that baby ready for college.
College?? The babies yearn for the mines!!
If this is a gift for someone you may be purchasing your future murder weapon.
My 3 boys, and various friends loved that toy.
Yes; a lot of things get hit, even themselves.
To anyone saying that these are a bad toy. You are wrong! There are so many learning opportunities for babies and toddlers in this toy.
It is super cool seeing a really little kid “building” the duplo with their little hammer.
How many of you were hit with mallets last week?

This is the kind of thing I used to give to my nephews when they were small to annoy my sister.
