- Comment on DICE Awards 2025 Nominations Revealed With Astro Bot, Helldivers 2, and Indiana Jones in the Lead - IGN 1 week ago:
It’s the problem when you have public voting on these, the ones more people know about are the ones that rise up. If it’s panel selected then it’s (almost always) rigged by whoever is giving the award to show off their game instead of the actual good one.
I mean look at the Steam awards, Liars Bar won “Most Innovative Gameplay”. Liars Bar, the game that is literally bluffing cards and dice, a game that has been around for literal centuries, “most innovative”

Eh. It’s very much a case by case. It’s like having an assistant manager. Some of them you wonder what they even do, other ones you think the place would likely fall apart and burst into flames without them.

I think we need a word for an unnecessary sequel. Like it’s not a remake but they just retcon the ending and are like “oh look actually there’s more!” On a story that was perfectly wrapped up already.

See, you invalidated that whole thing with the last line. Every marine has at least bitten a crayon. Some people have allergies.
- Comment on Y'all get those "Weird Amazon Shenanigans" where ordering later get you an even faster delivery? (like wtf?!?) Well I just witnessed this shenanigan. 3 weeks ago:
This usually comes from a couple things.
-
The Amazon site that could do faster delivery was out of stock, had too many orders already to deliver it same day on Wednesday
-
The time of day you looked at the order changed so you got in on Thursday early enough to hit that time limit
Or the Most likely:
- When you were placing the order it checked the available shipping methods (not days) and they couldn’t do same say that day, so they offered standard. The next day they check the methods again (probably taking into account the above reasons) and they could do same day so they offered it.
They don’t do the “what about same day, but tomorrow” stuff because it’s usually a problem that solves itself. Either you’re fine with Saturday, or you come back tomorrow trying to get it same day again.
The thing that is worth noting is that Amazon doesn’t do everything they sell as fast as humanly possible. They still have logistics to worry about and not every possible site can ship everything at maximum possible speed. They probably could if they forced it, but the juice isn’t worth the squeeze on that approach.

I also have like 150 hours in PlanetSide 2. But it’s because I left it running one day on accident and it counted all the extra hours as “playing”

I would highly recommend Payday 2, forget the DLC unless you really like it, but the game is amazing, one of the best horde shooters around imho. Payday 3 is a really pale comparison because it came out and pretty much the entire audience went to it and went “this sucks” then went right back to payday 2 because it’s just that much better.

Can you actually give evidence? Or even a semi-convincing argument to back that up? Because from everything I’ve seen it’s a whale fishing company with bros playing around with random disjointed tech demos. The closest I’ve seen them do to interesting is their distributed server model for cells in a single environment, but even that isn’t worth a billion dollars in funding.
Otherwise I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

I think this is mutual in that I prefer women just have a hobby more than anything. It’s a weird feeling when someone genuinely tells you they do “Nothing really” and you find out they’re genuinely serious.

Eh, it’s also a bit of a teaching opportunity with kids. A decent parent will teach kids which things are okay to hit and which ones aren’t, and this is something that can help with that. Someone’s probably going to get hit once or twice yeah. But kids also get mad when they can’t stick forks in outlets. I don’t see this toy being any worse than a sword or gun toy.

Just want to add, in the US you’d don’t have to register to vote each election/vote, just when you change address.

Technically they don’t gain money no, but they get:
- To move or dispose of product, making sales look better
- Free marketing, both in people having the drinks and to say "look we did a charity"
- To pay their taxes with effectively free money, because they take the product that they made for pennies, and count it as a “donation” at full price. Meaning that all the “profit” they would have made on markup goes straight to paying the taxes instead of making the money and paying taxes on the money they already made.
It’s why a company donating their product is always better for them than a regular person donating cash. They are effectively still making money it’s just this time they are making money specifically to pay off their taxes.

In universe I want to guess they added pressure to the back side of the system to balance out the water vs air pressure since it’s part of the training system. That said, it was probably just movie magic bs.

- Comment on What are some alternatives to bars that stay open late for folks that don't drink alcohol? 1 year ago:
In my experience it depends on the bar. I have a local that I like that is very laid back and relaxed bar scene, you still get some rowdy groups, but it’s not like fighting for the bartenders attention or blasting music. Perfectly easy to go in alone or with friends, sit down and shoot the shit for a few hours. Doesn’t really matter what’s in your glass.

Pretty sure you’d have to be “too old” to remember filthy frank (or pink guy) from the early YouTube days. All that happened was he started making music under the name joji
