My only exception to the “pre-discount” price is when places have a “buy 1 get 1” deal and they try to make you tip based on that, but the single item price is way overpriced because of it. Happens around me a lot where they’re like 3pack tacos, buy 1 get 1 $21, like yeah that’s great price for 6 small tacos, but I wouldn’t be paying $21 for 3 tacos, so I’m not gonna tip whatever crazy amount for a bill that “would have been” $75 or something for some tacos and a drink. Granted these are usually carry out orders, but don’t try to artificially inflate my bill to get better tips because you discounted it to a lower price.
- Comment on what video game deserves to be in a museum? 1 week ago:
I think the better question is what about games deserves to be in a general history museum? The advent and changes of technology and the implementation is far more important than the examples of it in use. There are very few games on their own that would qualify as “culturally impactful” to the greater world by their sheer existence. (Mario, Pokemon, and Tetris immediately come to mind).
If we are talking about a “video game museum/exhibit” then the list broadens a lot, but it’s less about the “what” and more the “why” that needs focused.
- Comment on what video game deserves to be in a museum? 1 week ago:
Most of these I get, but idk about hollow knight unless it’s a part of the “Metroid/Castlevania” exhibit. It’s a good game but idk if it’s quite “museum” status.
- Comment on Itch.io is delisting NSFW games due to pressure from payment processors 2 weeks ago:
Oh for sure, the sites are getting in trouble. But that’s because advertisers don’t want to be associated with those things.
But the payment processors, that’s literally how they make money. Can’t make money off the top if there are no transactions. Banks will still let you deposit your money if you get it from a drug deal, bit of a don’t ask don’t tell there, but it’s the government that has problems with how you got it. (hyperbole but you get my point)
I still think separating from credit card co.'s is a good idea regardless. But its pretty rare for them to turn down transactions unless they have to.
- Comment on Itch.io is delisting NSFW games due to pressure from payment processors 2 weeks ago:
Problem is the same as it has always been though.
Sex sells.
It’s gonna be a hard push for a lot of these companies to stop accepting transactions for NSFW stuff unless they can prove it’s harmful or they get legal repercussions because it’s a big part of business. In an economy where “year over year growth” is such a big deal, neutering transactions that account for (guessing generously) 7% of your revenue is a hard pill to swallow without serious force.

- Comment on "You can't just have Geralt for every single game" says his voice actor, and if you think The Witcher 4 making Ciri the protagonist is "woke," then "read the damn books" 2 months ago:
Eh, idk. The Witcher universe has a framework for an RPG, but the books have always been about Geralt and Co. You could do something different in that universe, but I think the story and the games have some very strong structure that comes from the player being Geralt and living his story.
Witchers are a rare dying breed. Trying to shove another new generic Witcher in would force you into writing a whole new series of stories, and backgrounds, just for that one character, which would make it get lost in the mix imho.

I’ll add Spiritfarer. It’s not “pink” per se, but it’s a much more “happy feelings” game. It’s about taking lost sould and ferrying them on your ship, talking to them about their lives and feelings, and you can give them hugs of course.

- Comment on Hypothetically, if you are in prison and want to communicate with the outside world without being detected, what are some ways to hide a message within an innocuous letter? 4 months ago:
I mean it really depends on how much trouble you’re in. If you’re in deep they’re gonna be watching every thing you do no matter what. So any kind of message that looks suspect is gonna be investigated, even stuff like “Aunt Mary” or whatever is gonna have someone trying to figure it out.
The best way to do it is to exit the monitored communication entirely, either a burner phone with coded language, or having your communications come from someone else on the inside. That’s really the only way you’ll get around it, and even that can still be caught.
- Comment on Late 1900s 4 months ago:
Century has that human element because “last century” is where old people are from. You wouldn’t meet people from the last millennium, but you know people from the last century. It’s 100 years, that’s a lifetime. Implying that you’re from the “last” one means you’re not from “this” one. Aka, ancient.
- Comment on The gentrified forest near me removed the bins. .. From their café/picnic area 4 months ago:
The function of the parks service is to maintain the parks, rivers, and forests (aka nature) of the area they operate. Idk what in your view makes “nature conservation” overlap with “making sure entitled lazy dickheads have a trash can every 10 feet they can ignore” but you might want to reevaluate your stance here. Govt funding is tight enough for these agencies trying to do what they can as it is. Catering to “But I don’t want to hold my trash for 10 minutes” like a whining baby is not their concern. Nor should anyones be. You’re a grown adult. Take your trash, shove it in a pocket or a bag until you can throw it away like an adult.
- Comment on The gentrified forest near me removed the bins. .. From their café/picnic area 4 months ago:
Genuine answer here, as someone who volunteers for the parks. A lot of times the budgets are tight, depending on whose responsibility it is to clean up the area and what services are there/nearby, the staffing just isn’t available. Yeah it’s a pretty easy thing to do in theory, but in practice when it becomes “okay and 2 hours of your shift is driving out there and emptying the cans” it’s not a far leap to just “Remove the cans, make the snack stand dispose of their garbage on their own”
I mean I get it, the cans are nice but also, like you’re an adult. Throw your trash away on your own.
“But then people will throw it on the ground!” Okay then pay someone to stand out there and slap every idiot that thinks littering is okay because they couldn’t find a can in 10 seconds.
It’s common decency in plenty of places around the world to take your garbage with you until you find a can. It’s not hard.

- Comment on How is the Stock Market keeping it's value after *points to everything*? 5 months ago:
I mean that’s part of the thing right? “Who dares wins” is a great mantra until you lose. Nobody can predict the future so a lot of times the greed carries out until it’s literally irreversible. That’s why it’s so important to have people on the other end defending from the greed, from the people that will hoard and take until they die on their pile of gold.
At least for the US there is always a feeling of doom and worry and “it’s going to pop” but until it actually does, the greed will continue to take. That’s part of the system for better or worse. It can’t be stopped, but defending the people from the repercussions of that greed is what we have to do.
There’s always someone that will try to bring too much on the lifeboat. Rules are needed to stop them from sinking the whole ship.
- Comment on How is the Stock Market keeping it's value after *points to everything*? 5 months ago:
As others have said, the stock market has little to do with reality. It’s focused on money and business reports. As long as companies are showing profits, the stock market literally doesn’t care.
Something only hits it when businesses hit it. Look at today’s market. Walmart posted bad futures and the whole market recoiled (only a bit but still).
There’s also just the denial phase. Lots of people, at lots of levels, are dependent on the stock market for their own finances. Literally everyone with a 401k has an interest in the market doing well. Saying “welp, we’re fucked” is just not something that anyone wants to put towards wall street. It’s why we have market “crashes”, because people hold out until the water covers the bow of the sinking shop then they freak out and bail out at the last second.

It doesn’t matter without scope. Are we looking at a database of SSNs? tax records? A sign in log? The social security number database might require uniques in some way, but tax records could be the same person over multiple years. A sign in gives a unique identifier but you could be signing in every day.
It’s like saying a car VIN shows up multiple times in a database. Where? What database? Was it sold? Tickets? Registered every year?
This is nothing more than a “assume I mean immigrants or tax fraud and get mad!” inflammatory statement with no proof or reason.

It’s the problem when you have public voting on these, the ones more people know about are the ones that rise up. If it’s panel selected then it’s (almost always) rigged by whoever is giving the award to show off their game instead of the actual good one.
I mean look at the Steam awards, Liars Bar won “Most Innovative Gameplay”. Liars Bar, the game that is literally bluffing cards and dice, a game that has been around for literal centuries, “most innovative”
