I’m looking up Philly cheesesteak recipes and I can’t help thinking what a waste of a good steak but then maybe I’m missing out on something really good. I don’t know. Convince me why or why not I should create this.

Do it for fun and also to inform us if it’s worth it or not.

I’d have to get my head around steak and cheese together first. It’s hard to create something I’ve never had before but hey I’m adventurous.

Ehh… wonky sleep.
I put my knockoff oodie on ‘delicates’ but accidentally washed it on 30 degrees instead of cold. Oops. The fleece has popcorned very slightly but a quick brush with the knockoff tangle teezer when it’s dry should fluff it up again.
I also saw my hair is longer than I realised so I’ve gone back to using a drop of oil through it before washing. That helps a lot. I still haven’t had an opportunity for a cut

staple gun has been bought, tapestry patchwork has been made, now to clean up so I can get started on the chairs tomorrow
the fabrics turned out so much nicer than I imagined 😊

home and having some decaf
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I think I need to invest in some decaf. I want a warm coffee but if I drink one now I’ll never sleep.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
for me it’s decaf only past 3 in the afternoon

Personally I wouldn’t bother, cutting off the power cord does help tell people it’s waste though.
If I was paranoid about someone finding my AskJeeves search history, I’d open it and smash the HDD platter inside (or just go over it with a magnet).

you can probably download and burn the macOS disks if you have access to the media
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I erase as much as I can, then take out batteries, then smash it all, then add water or glue
Catfish@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Last time I did this I pulled the drive bashed foil hats.a few nails through it and let sit in a bucket of heavily salted water. I am also partial to tin
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
ooo, you use salty water, I just do plain water, I also do glue in the works

They may be able to recover it and reinstall the OS by using the recovery mode.
Try and boot up the laptop and hold Command & R as you boot or reboot it and see what options it’ll give you.

Put the whole thing in the eWaste bin at the transfer station (tip).

Got what from everything I can tell a real email from uber with a verification code to login and I haven’t logged in today. That means that, assuming it was real, someone got my password right.
Aaaand then I spent an hour resetting a bunch of passwords and deleting all passwords from Microsoft and Google (I use an external password manager now).
While digging through privacy and security stuff I did see that someone tries to unsuccessfully login to my Microsoft account every few hours from various countries around the world. I’m guessing that happens to a lot of people whose accounts are old and have been involved in breaches of services you sign up with them with.
Glad I have multifactor authentication setup for all the important stuff.

What’s the recommended brand for a washing machine (front loading) and microwave oven?
Best value for money, and looking at $300 for the microwave, probably $750 for the washer. Not a hard budget though.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I’d put in a bit extra for a Bosch washing machine. As for a microwave it depends on how big you want it and what you want it to do. They can last 2 years or 20 years so I’d go with one that fits in the space.

I spent like $30 or $40 on a second hand Samsung microwave oven 3.5 years ago and I’ve been very happy with it, not entirely sure the pricier ones make much of a difference. Washing machines on the other hand, definitely go for quality. I was cheap and got a Beko one that’s okay but it does sometimes unstick itself from the floor and get rather violent even when I haven’t overloaded the thing.
Cendana@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Thanks Just_kitten, will check out cheap options for microwaves. For washing machines, Bosch seems popular here so I’ll go with that, and avoid Beko 😅

Love my Fisher and Paykel front loader. It’s my first front loader and I’m really happy with the job it does. For a microwave, don’t get sold on all the extra stuff if you’re not going to use it. I use ours to defrost stuff, reheat meals and melt cheese so I got a basic Samsung. Go for decent wattage though.
Pilk@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Happy with mine too. I would argue the premium models (with lots of cycles and buttons) aren’t a necessary investment. No matter the brand I think spin cycle speed is important for efficient drying, mine goes up to 1400 which is a great start for dryer or hang drying.
Cendana@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Thanks:) you’re right about the microwave… Will go with a cheap one then, since all we do is heat food, never used the fancy features.

We watched some old episodes of Ready Steady Wiggle from 10 years ago and the new episodes are so much better. They’re more cohesive and have better pacing.
There are 8 wiggles in the main lineup now, it makes me wonder if there’s a US wiggles branch.
If not, Anthony should take the Trans-Siberian Orchestra approach and have two groups of the wiggles that just tour each coast up and down.
It would make more than enough to set everyone involved with the wiggles up for retirement
