I’m in the “both” camp I like the cinematography of the 2021 edition, and Hans Zimmer really did a great score they make it look and sound futuristic and cool, but you need to read the book first as they skip a lot of the plot.
But the 1984 edition is still good, sometimes I start humming the main score and then I know it’s time for a rewatch.

And if you get hold of a dodgy copy the malware could be more trustworthy than what ubisoft does.
