I put on a bra! ( also other clothes )
have watched/finished watching 4 movies so far today.
oztrin@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Just cold enough for a fire so I’ve lit one and am in the process of burning various stuff too sensitive to go into the recycling bin.
The cats are ecstatic, the little heat hogs.oztrin@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Other party outbid me - she named my top price and I wasn’t prepared to go further, especially since the body corporate was demanding painting and gutter and downpipe replacement about the time I moved in.
Ah well, I had a feeling I wouldn’t get it and a lot of places will be coming onto the market in the next few weeks.bull@aussie.zone 11 months ago
How do you know about the lots of places coming onto the market?
oztrin@aussie.zone 11 months ago
The way the market works and also the advice of the agent who sold my house.
Two new ones were listed in the last two days so I don’t think this year is going to be anomalous.
wscholermann@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Making crumbed lamb cutlets tonight, because I’m worth it.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Ooooo. Yummy.

Might be a nice little restautant ;)
Taleya@aussie.zone 11 months ago
…it may have ended with His Lordship realising he married a covert oompa-loompa, but my first goes at brick cutting and wall building went rather well methinks.

anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Very nice work indeed!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I would like to say for everyone that that is pretty impressive.
Taleya@aussie.zone 11 months ago
thanks, I’m pretty chuffed. The front seam looks like it’s on the same point, but that’s aesthetic only on the front - the back is a full on crossover to prevent weak spots. My years of lego have taught me well.
bull@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I did a COVID test and it came back negative but still coughing my face off today. Decided I wouldn’t go to dinner tonight and cough all over the place. Think I might nap.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 months ago
get well soon
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I drew a thing and it looked like a thing. Nice. I could learn to art so well if I could just focus. If only you had regular manageable dailies and could see skill points racking up in real life.
(I’m not downloading Habitica.)
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 11 months ago
You could post them here each day and rack up upvotes instead.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Maybe. Does this site even have karma scores tho?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 months ago
As long as it wasn’t a penis I’d like to see what you drew. Others might like to see penises though. Nothing wrong with that.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
It’s not that! My skills are still pretty rough but I’ll see about making stuff to post
bananafungus@aussie.zone 11 months ago
About to shave my beard off for the first time in years, being sick has made it go all weird and brittle and it’s massively irritating my skin so it’s got to go. At least I can’t go anywhere so no one has see me without it since it’ll grow semi back by the end of the week.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I have a pretty sore back. 😭 Will put on my comfyest PJs, take drugs and watch a million movies over the next few days
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Hugs to you. A nice little tipple might those drugs work a little bit better. Just saying.
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 11 months ago
One day, I hope I can be as cool as Spock
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Study success! First draft has been completed. I’m going to have a break for lunch, walk Mr Woof (always a great way to let my brain rest and quietly process things in the background) and have another look at it later this afternoon before submitting it. I even have a sensible number of words, there is only one section that will require much trimming.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 months ago
yay , you have done this :)
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Sky glorious.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Ugh. I fed the catkin and napped, woke up at midnight to see she hadn’t eaten her food and so hadn’t had her medication.
Removed it and gave her half of her usual dose to tide her over til 6am (mixed into some of her old Fancy Feast Royale) and she ate it. So she just suddenly doesn’t like the flavour (that makes up half the food I bought) and it’s messing with her meds schedule. She started getting sooky, went between different trays and had the runs so she may have stress induced cystitis. I gave her some antiinflammatory pain meds to help. Also tried to give the other half of the usual meds but she won’t eat it.
If she keeps the fussy eating up she’s going to need her medication manually syringed into her mouth twice daily instead of doing it the easy way :(
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 months ago
gentle hugs for you both
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I’ve dosed her with her normal pain med and the NSAID this morning before breakfast, some ended up on the sheets but fingers crossed it manages things

Just re-enabled my Work alarm for the first time since before Christmas. Sad times.

Found 3 newer ones…

I’d love it if this COVID cough could kindly fuck right off. I should get some lozenges.
Anyways, it’s my dad’s 70th birthday tomorrow but we’re doing dinner tonight. On brand for me, I’m about to go and buy him a gift today at the last minute. Going to get him a Ring doorbell and chime, and I’ll pay for a year of the subscription service for him. He has been talking about getting one for years.
I shouldn’t be contagious anymore I think with my COVID but I’m wondering if I should mask up anyway. Hmm.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
At the risk of being ‘that person’ you should probably be sure you’re no longer contagious. And it’s never a bad idea to mask up.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 11 months ago
What up humans!!!?
wscholermann@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I see the humidity is back and it’s not nice. Yuck.
Duenan@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Indeed yuck. Go away humidity. You’re not welcome!
oztrin@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Raised the bid by the extravagant sum of $50.
We shall see.bananafungus@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Had a weird suspicion but tonights dinner of beef and vegetable soup confirmed it, all warm/hot food since catching covid tastes really spicy to me… While I like spicy food, having every meal be spicy is going to get old quickly, especially as I transition back to solids (yay ulcers finally healing!).
Duenan@aussie.zone 11 months ago
If everything seems spicy what happens when you eat spicy food?
bananafungus@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I’m not sure, but I’ll let you know once I can have spicy food again. I’ll also add lots of sweet foods taste waxy at the moment as well, which is strange.
wscholermann@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Just be grateful you didn’t smell smoke that wasn’t there for three months after having COVID.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I believe it’s really common to have things taste/smell wrong for a while as your senses return - something to do with your brain having to relearn what some smells actually are and getting it wrong. Spicy does not sound too bad, the most common is to have things taste/smell foul or rotten.
bananafungus@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Yeah would much rather everything taste like it’s been seasoned to resemble lava than it tasting like I picked it out of a bin.
bull@aussie.zone 11 months ago
What an odd symptom. Can’t say I had that one! I was actually trying to eat as much spicy stuff as I could when I lost my taste/smell to try and taste something.
Duenan@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I would give anything to be able to eat a curry laksa but not experience the spiciness of it.
I have a very low tolerance to spicy foods :(
bananafungus@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I’ve googled and can’t find anything about it so I’m semi thinking it might be a mixture of covid and my ulcer meds doing a number on my taste buds.
Catfish@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Not a good weekend for dye. First the skirt I bought specifically to emblacken ended up not being all cotton so it’ now has stupid teal stripes, then my hair turned out rather insipid. Best not attempt eyebrows, I might turn into Spock.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I just use those mascara style brow dyes. Isn’t dark and it’s temporary.
Catfish@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I usually use actual mascara, but have this thing to try. Another day.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I am logged in on the computer as myself finally!
I realised that Chrome now has a time setting when you clear cookies, and I had to change that.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Ok, dog has been walked. Breakfast has been consumed. I will now sit down and do the work on my assignment that should have been done yesterday. I may need to tie myself to the chair, because my brain is already starting to come up with other things to do instead.
oztrin@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Oh, Felicia, where the fuck are you?
(Yes, I named my car.)RustyRaven@aussie.zone 11 months ago
She’s probably been out all night raging, and is currently in a carpark somewhere feeling really hungover and trying to remember what she got up to.
oztrin@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Fingers crossed.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I wouldn’t have thought that a Volvo with some age on it was much of a target for joy riders, so maybe was nicked to order or for spare parts? The recent spate of thefts makes me think that someone has recently moved in to the area and has identified all the ‘soft targets’.
oztrin@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I’m wondering that myself. Intruders and theft, especially from cars, is an ongoing issue but this is ridiculous.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Was up with Melbcat last night and fell asleep with the light on… My bills -_-
FYI Coles currently has half price on a bunch of Rexona deodorants (lowest are priced at $2.75 and $4). Debating it… A few of the scents would give me a headache. There’s an ‘invisible pure’ roll on that might be less smelly but all of the ones that claim not to leave white marks suck. But the deodorants not on sale are $4.50 or $5 at the lowest and $8.50 at the highest. Wtf.
Oh well. Guess I try the least worst sounding roll on for science and report back in the ‘What’s Good At Coles’ thread.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 11 months ago
I have a real problem with deodorants but I never used to, it seems to be a recent thing (peri menopause becoming regular menopause? It’s the only thing that’s changed with me). All those “natural” deodorants (think Sukin, body shop etc) give me a rash or something that looks like a horrible graze. The Nivea one I’m using is ok but it smells like I’m being smacked in the head with a toilet cleaner. The Dove roll ons are okay but they don’t seem to be long lasting. Let me know what you’ve found!
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Yeah, I’ve long given up on natural deodorants. The culprit is likely bicarb soda, essential oils, or alcohol. All are irritants.
I’m currently using Mum antiperspirant which works better than other female antiperspirants and less strong smelling but still not a fan of the floral scent. Also I find ones that are good at preventing wetness are not great at preventing smell, and vice versa.
With the Rexona I ordered one of the ‘pure’ (which still has fragrance) and one of the men’s scent to let’s see whether they’re any good.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Round about menopause I gave up on women’s antiperspirants. I now get the Aldi mens 48 hour sport one. Effective, not highly perfumed, dries quickly and doesn’t irritate me except for the day after shaving the pits. So I go without deo on that day and most weekends.
You have to remember that it’s not the armpit that smells as such, it’s the accumulated dead bacteria that clings to the hairs/skin folds. Daily wash with soap is essential, but deo as such may not be. I really only use deo on work days where I won’t be able to wash if I get sweaty and smelly - like riding my bike to work and back.

Playing golf with the p’s later on today. Been a while… had a little practice chip in the backyard and I’ve already lost a ball.
Looking forward to it though. At the very worst it’ll be a nice walk.
the_procrastinata@aussie.zone 11 months ago
My name is The_Procrastinata and I have a problem. It’s been zero days since I stayed up past midnight playing Hogwarts Legacy.
The game is great, and I’m really enjoying it. Pesky things like work and sleep keep getting in the way of me playing it.

Some porridge with no sugar or honey and that hasn’t got added salt please. Mr P made us porridge this morning and he puts salt in it? I know this is tradition but I don’t have anything added to my porridge so I can really taste it. Also I’m a whinger in the morning so give me a dummy to shut me up!
