That was probably an additional 5 cents worth of popcorn that was being sold for $10 too.
Fuck the giant corporations

Yeah but a quickly firebale offense. At least how it was back how it was 15 years ago they inventory the containers. So if you gave someone the wrong size your inventory would be off when you cashed out, you’d be gone by day 3. Now if someone ordered a medium and came back half way through the movie and you refilled it for them, no one probably would have ever cared. Same with drinks.
Aka in their eyes the empty tub holding the popcorn is worth $10, they couldn’t care how much popcorn you gave them.

Doubt it. Corn is so cheap the difference is probably not even a full coin.
saltesc@lemmy.world 1 day ago
The price of cinema popcorn is a strange thing.
It’s corn. It’s literally just corn. Unless the butter came from the teet of St Mary herself, it’s just corn. $2 should cover it including the inconvenience of shipping it, pouring it into a machine, and scooping it into a thin-walled cardboard cup.

I have heard that movie theaters make most of their money from their concession stands, and that the ticket sales largely go to the movie distributors.
So, their business model is marking up popcorn.
Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Husband was a manager at a movie theater, he told me this is exactly why concessions are so expensive.
spookedintownsville@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Same model applies to concert venues. Most of the ticket money goes to the artist

OK but what if I hate corporations and want them to burn?
cRazi_man@europe.pub 1 day ago
The point is not to get goods to you in the most cost efficient way possible. The point is to seperate you from as much of your money as possible.
isles@lemmy.world 1 day ago
I think strange in the opposite way, considering the countless people involved in producing the end product somewhere near you. And strange that cinema business model is merely to give people a nice place to eat the snacks.

Sure? I just want to make sure he isn’t immediately fired for admitting to doing such acts. He’d be able to do more good without being fired and needing to get new jobs all the time.

Remember working at Walmart and Co workers felt like it was their store. When I was at the return desk, I would take everyone returns back as long as it was under 50 and I can scant it. Oh, no receipt, okay then here’s a gift card. It was less stress for me and the supervisors appreciated me not calling them every 5 minutes.

Why do you think they’re a bot?
Despair@lemmy.world 1 day ago
They automated mirroring posts from Reddit to as a way to add content here (don’t provide links to original posts either or make it clear that the content is mirrored). They don’t really vet what they post either. Something thing they reposted from reddit was a person asking for help picking out PC parts for a gift, a post which the original poster would never see, and people here would just be wasting their time replying to a bot post instead of helping the OP. They’ve also repost the same article to the same community a couple hours later.
Original Post of person asking for help picking PC parts
Automated post on lemmylemmy.world/post/51345527/25587759 A lot of the comments in this post point out that they are using AI to make posts and respond to comments.

-
They have an AI generated avatar and profile banner.
-
They admit to using AI automation to post.
-
They have been posting AI generated drama posts whining that nobody likes their AI bullshit.

A local theater donates a large trash bag of popcorn to an elementary school near me. Probably $800 worth of popcorn if it were sold. The trash bag of popcorn costs them…maybe $15?

And John Henry made 16 transactions of value that day, and the machine only fucked up 9.

In the case of McDonald, I don’t think that will affect the corporation at all. You’re just hurting the store owner who is the franchisee

I really don’t understand what you were trying to do by self censoring a comment about this. It doesn’t work as a joke at all, it just looks real fucking dumb.
