Not sure if any other Aussies can relate but fuck man, it never ends
Can relate.
I feel like one of these panels should say, “I find out how much the US impacts Aussie lives & politics”.

This is the crux of the issue in my opinion. I wouldn’t give a damn about US politics if they weren’t constantly messing with everyone else.
It wasn’t that long ago they were directly requesting to change within Australia to combat “woke”. Fuck off mate, at least some of your citizens voted to mess up your country but leave ours alone.
To what “direct request” are you referring too?
Remember that time when your government was overthrown by the CIA? I’m not even Australian and even I know about that one.

All politics is learned against our will. Nobody likes this shit but we have to do it because there’s too damn many of us.
There are a lot of Americans who are learning American politics against their will at the moment too; hopefully enough of them to not support the insanity in the future.
“But they were just supposed to go after the bad minorities, not my group”
“But tarrifs don’t raise prices for Americans, they promised”
“But why can we pay $50k sign on bonuses for ICE but not fund education or healthcare?”
“But that’s against the law, I thought they supported the 2nd amendment?”
“But they’re being violent toward white people too, I thought my group was safe”
“But they said they hated paedophiles and wanted to punish them and that they would release the Epstein files”
“But Trump said he would end the Ukraine war in 24 hours”
“Why can’t I get vaccinated and get my kid vaccinated in some states?”
“But they refunded my X when they said they were only going to refund Y”
“But that hurts my business, I bought their line that…”*
“You can’t trust politicians, they all lie!”
“I trust Trump with my life.”
These are the same person.
You’re basically learning from an example.on how NOT to do it, but I don’t see Australia doing that much better, does it?
Australia is doing WAYYY better than USA, what are you on about? Want metrics?
This you?

And let’s just say it isn’t the first time I see fuckery from the Aussie govt. Wasn’t the “honest government ads” video channel started by an Australian because of the government bullshit there?
Stupid Americans post so damn much about themselves and their country. I bet they don’t know anything about Australian politics.
Less than 5% of Americans could even name the capital of Australia.
We know about Harold Holt and Ned Kelly just not anything about current Oz politics sorry.
We gotta learn what we can now, so we can prevent the 5th Reich later.
No need to be sorry; lots of Americans are doing the same thing, these days.
Hey, look, it’s an island strategically placed against China that has oil and mineral resources
Violent, dangerous empires will always teach you their politics against your will. It doesn’t matter who or where you are.
Hopefully it doesn’t end up as an example of how not to handle a fascist takeover but I have my doubts.
I wouldn’t say it’s against my will. I willingly read it, but it’s more out of morbid curiosity. The more you look, the more you realise it’s not just stupidity; it’s fundamental, generational, institutionalised stupidity that was there pretty much from the start. It’s fascinating in a multi-car pile-up kind of way.
Australian politics is so dull in comparison, which is much more preferable to actually live with.
I just hope there would be snooze until elections -button

Honestly, I wish more Aussies would learn about what’s happening in America, then maybe one nation wouldn’t be surging in the polls right now.

I’d be happy if Australians learnt about Australian politics.
This country is filled to the brim with politically ignorant luddites who think they are informed because they solely consume Murdoch media.

Good point. I guess I’m a little biased, having lived in the states through the Obama years when US republicans really took the mask off, now I’m (thankfully) back here with my American wife and US-born kids, so I’m a little bit more attuned to what’s happening over there than the average Aussie. It really chaps my ass when some “enlightened” Australian drops a “well trump is doing a good job on (random thing) at least.” No Sharon, trump isn’t doing, and hasn’t done, a good job on literally anything and may already have ended the global rules based order.
