- Comment on Tariffs on 'incredibly important' ally Australia branded 'insulting' in fiery US Senate hearing 1 week ago:
Or just take it? We could call it Australia’s Greenland.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 weeks ago:
3 times as fast as 100? I don’t know what you’re expecting here. It’s 83.3 metres per second, if that helps. Your friend must have a nice car, there’s not many that can go that fast, and even fewer that can do it and still handle predictably.
- Comment on Trump puts tariffs of at least 10pc on imports, including from Australia 2 weeks ago:
*Australia says it would prefer to work through a dispute settlement process *
Fuck that. You can’t negotiate with an unhinged imbecile who changes his mind depending on who was the last person who spoke to him. Every world leader who bows down to trump just makes him worse.
- Comment on Legalise Cannabis Party 2025 2 weeks ago:
Believe me I will. But I’ll put a socialist, green, or certain independent candidate first.
- Comment on Legalise Cannabis Party 2025 2 weeks ago:
I wish that we had so few problems I could vote on this single issue, but stopping any Australian version of maga needs to be priority number 1, and then about 50 other things before legal weed. Honestly, it’s not hard or expensive to get a prescription, you can do it all over the phone.
- Comment on ‘A female Donald Trump’: how Gina Rinehart is pushing the Maga message in Australia 2 weeks ago:
It’s shocking how many maga wannabes we have in this country. If you’re thinking of voting along those lines, please don’t. Don’t believe anything they promise you. They’ll say anything, and when they have control they’ll absolutely fuck the working class to make the rich as rich as possible. Just look at what’s happening in America right now. If you’re not comfortably living off the returns on your vast wealth, or you have any sort of integrity, Rinehart and co have nothing good for you.
- Comment on A lobby group representing Google, Meta, Apple, Amazon, Uber, and X has urged the US Government to take aim at Australian laws 2 weeks ago:
Fuck America. We don’t want their tyrannical oligarchic bullshit here. trump and his hopelessly incompetent government think they can coerce other countries into doing whatever they want through tariffs, the rest of the world needs to start a new global economy without the US in it.
In the US right now we’re witnessing the logical conclusion of capitalism and unless you’re one of a handful of people it’s not pretty. Unregulated capitalism needs to end or it’s going to take us all down. We should be looking to emulate the democratic socialist countries of Europe, but it’s never going to happen while we sit back and let rich people’s kids rule our lives.
- Comment on Trapped in 'deep poverty': The people who say they were left behind by the budget 3 weeks ago:
If you’re not a property owner, you’ve always been left behind by Australian federal budgets.
- Comment on i’m scared of my boyfriend because he’s dry and doesn’t want to initiate a relationship, should i break up because of the latter part? 4 weeks ago:
In what way is he your boyfriend? He doesn’t sound like he is. Poly is really hard, and it’s full of shitty people who use it as a justification for being shitty. Sounds like you need to do a whole bunch of work on yourself right now, and it doesn’t really sound like either of your “partners” are good for you.
- Comment on Why do people hold tobacco cigarettes and cannabis joints differently when smoking them? 5 weeks ago:
Couple of reasons in my experience. Cigarettes have a generous butt, and are pretty structurally sound, which makes them pretty easy to handle that way, and you can ash with a simple flick of your thumb. Joints often have no butt, or just some folded up but of paper or some other dodgy bullshit, so there’s far less to grab onto. They’re also often pretty flimsy, and fall apart easily. So holding them that way gives you better control and is more gentle on the joint.
- Comment on Just watched someone walk their cart all the way to the corral at the back of the lot rather than back to the store that was much closer. 5 weeks ago:
At least they didn’t just leave it in the closest empty parking space, like literally everyone around here does. 😡
- Comment on Why don't people going to college get HUD, Food Stamps, and free Medicare/Medicaid while enrolled? Instead of the parents footing the bill or the student working 3 jobs and school? 1 month ago:
Because in capitalist America, you only get financial help if you don’t need it.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 month ago:
Sounds like a 13 year old edge lord with a lot to learn about the world. Pretty normal and hopefully he will grow out of it in the next 5 years or so.
Don’t mean to sound insulting, but sounds like you have a lot to learn to if you’re hung up on someone like this.
We all think stupid things at that age. Getting out into the real world cures a lot of people. Some are sufficiently privileged that they never get out into the real world - those ones become CEOs and senators, some are incurable - they become some version of maga.
Just try to remember that everyone has their own history, hangups, and demons. We’ve all got our own battles to fight, and most people just want to live their lives and be left alone.
- Comment on A middle power with ‘great and powerful friends’: Australia’s changing role in the region 1 month ago:
Anything that starts with “backed by the US” isn’t anything you want to put your money on right now. We’re a long way from either Europe or the US, and with the US a failed state and Europe dealing with Russia’s bullshit I wouldn’t rely on massive amounts of help from either of we needed it. I’m sure Australia’s war gamers are taking that into account.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 month ago:
I never understood it, and I grew up on 80s action movies. Love Arnie, Bruce, Sylvester (before maga), even Chuck. But never got into James Bond at all.
- Comment on [TW] Convicted r**ist runs One Nation election campaign 1 month ago:
How many trump wannabe parties do we need in this country???
- Comment on Sooo, where did the blatant Nazism suddenly come from? 1 month ago:
There have always been Nazis in America, even during WW2. Listen to Rachel Maddow’s podcast “ultra” to hear about how close they came to a takeover of the US way back then. They never went away, they just went low profile for a while.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 month ago:
You didn’t wake up, this is hell.
- Comment on So, is the USA screwed? 1 month ago:
I believe the US is a failed state. trump just decided that himself and his AG are the only people who can decide which laws apply to the executive, and ordered the termination of all remaining Biden era US Attorneys. I know we’ve been saying this a lot lately, but it feels like a mask off moment.
- Comment on Albanese in trouble as polling shows Dutton most likely to be next PM 1 month ago:
It’s pretty horrifying, makes me worry that the average Australian is exactly the kind of person I suspected.
- Comment on Albanese in trouble as polling shows Dutton most likely to be next PM 1 month ago:
Jesus fucking Christ, are we all learning nothing from what’s happening in the US right now???
- Comment on Do they make a TV device or dongle to connect quickly via a number of types of inputs? 2 months ago:
What types of inputs do you need? So far all I can find in Australia is 1 to many all HDMI. Worst case scenario you might need a bunch of speciality whatever to HDMI adaptors and feed them all into a HDMI switch.
- Comment on Outcast WA politician changes name to 'Aussie' Trump ahead of state election 2 months ago:
Yep. We’re deep into the game of monopoly now. Someone’s put hotels on those expensive properties and now it’s just a matter of time until they have all the money or we just decide we don’t want to play anymore. They’re the only possible outcomes.
- Comment on Outcast WA politician changes name to 'Aussie' Trump ahead of state election 2 months ago:
Well I’ve got my everything crossed that Aussies turn out to be a bit smarter than Americans, as a whole. I’m not super optimistic, but we have a lot more to lose than Americans did. Our government still kinda works for the majority in some aspects.
