- Comment on Private health insurance is a dud. That’s why a majority of Australians don’t have it 5 weeks ago:
I’ve seen how the public system can work when it’s working well and I’ve read plenty of terrifying stories from USA from both “successful” and failed private health visits to know that our public system is a treasure that we should try our damndest to protect.
It’s part of why I’ve copped the Medicare charge instead of getting private health when I turned 30. I would rather pay a little more for a decent health system than pay a lot more for a shit one.

But then how would the established aristocracy elevate themselves above the common rabble to justify a company position that already has their name on it thanks to nepotism? Surely those poor nepobabies won’t have to compete with The Poors in the future! How unjust!

“I am not sure what Barnaby Joyce has to do to lose his job,” Mr Albanese told ABC’s Afternoon Briefing.
Oath. Some of these clowns somehow manage to retain their positions unbelievably.

- Comment on Captain's call or press conference slip-up? Dutton's 2030 climate target U-turn surprised even his colleagues 6 months ago:
He reminds voters of Anthony Albanese’s promised $275 reduction in power bills, which is yet to be delivered: “How much higher will your electricity prices go under this prime minister?”
I don’t remember prices ever being cheaper under the coalition and I doubt spending billions on nuclear power would bring them down. Not to mention those plants would probably get on-sold to one of Duttons mates for pennies and then rape the energy market for profits.
All this to say: I’m glad I invested in home solar years ago and I’m glad I could finally afford a home battery. I’m just sorry for people who cannot afford or who are unable to do so.

I once worked with a guy called Nobby. One day I asked him: “why do people call you Nobby?” His last name is Cockshell. Cockshell > cock > nob > Nobby. Checks out.

Unfortunately, yes. iPhones will check passively and Android phones can get an app but you have to check actively. Hopefully Apple and Google work on a solution for active detection on Android devices.

…placing at least seven AirTags on his ex-wife’s car to surveil her.
Assuming the tags weren’t checking in with an owning device (iPhone) that car would’ve been beeping up a storm.
I recently lent a set of work keys to a colleague that I forgot had an AirTag on them, in their words: “fucking things beeped all weekend and my phone kept telling me I’m being followed!”

Signed! We need reform on how aging games are handled to protect ownership of paid products and the only way publishers will do that is if they’re forced to.

- Comment on Why do comments from lemmy.world users not appear until 4 days later? 8 months ago:
All of the lemmy.world communities I follow are showing weird imo. All the posts still appear on my feed but with a single upvote and no comments.
It’s a bit of a shame because a lot of the more active communities I’m subscribed to are lemmy.world ones so it’s not as easy as finding alternatives.

Factorio. I love the gameplay but none of my friends play it so I normally play other games with them and come back to Factorio every now and then.
- Comment on Steam :: Introducing Steam Families 8 months ago:
Don’t forget Steam Link! It’s one of my favourite features. You’re not even really tethered to any particular device to play your games since so many devices support the app. I play games that are single-player “console” style games in my lounge room for comfort and Steam Link means I can use my very good PC instead of buying into yet another console generation.
