- Comment on How would world politics be like if the top 100 countries (in terms of military strength) all had their own nuclear arsenals? 2 days ago:
a few dozen nukes make other military strength less important. an army of a few hundred soldiers could destroy a whole other country. so nations could focus on more important things.
- Comment on How did you guys get your fediverse real-time notifications to work? 5 days ago:
the first thing i do after installing an app is switching off notifications. i can switch it back on later, if i think it could be heloful, but in like 90% of apps they stay off
- Comment on How likely is the US government going to identify and arrest every online user who have disagreed with the current administration? 5 days ago:
they’ll just pour it all into AI. the people they wheelbarrow out of the gas chambers can’t dispute it any more.

- Comment on Americans, How do you pour soda into a cup with ice without the soda going flat? 1 week ago:
dood. an albatross has like twice the wingspan of a seagull. it’s an absolute unit. on pictures they may look slightly similar, but those beasts have >3.40 m (11.2 ft) wingspan. the sky goes dark when they approach.

I’m pretty sure he wanted to harm it before the elections or at least make it more right wing. I think he succeeded in both to a degree, his candidate won and he’s getting his reward.
- Comment on How do you think smartphone manufacturers will comply with EU's replaceable battery regulation? 2 weeks ago:
they will put the battery in a section not waterproof under the back cover. the replacement battery will come with a waterproof glue circle around the contacts. when replacing it, you will rub off some old glue and seal it again by inserting the new one. water can enter the back cover, but do no harm there.

it’s also a cultural thing, meaning in one area or one group it can be popular to shave and at the same time there lives a group in parallel growing bushes.
however, it’s certainly better to at least keep it trimmed very short, so it doesn’t clog your shower or sticks to soap bars and also dries quickly.

my oled moves the pic unnoticably by 10px in all 4 directions, which may clip a bit but prevent burn in. Android status bar does it too btw.
- Comment on Why some people go fulk grey hair in their 30s? 3 weeks ago:
In my experience, women rejuvenate men (or maybe it’s all romantic partnerships idk). If it’s with her, suddenly long walks or sports are back on the table. It can get their spirits up and even change their political views to a degree. Like from doomer to socialist hippy in a month. Nothing turns a man anarchist quicker than being in a romantic relationship with a punk.

You can also pair it to a bluetooth device and use Macrodroid, Automate or Tasker to remote lock it and/or lock if the device is disconnected.
- Comment on What's the Standard Operating Procedure for if someone steals your phone while you were using it and its unlocked? 3 weeks ago:
if the “Theft protection” setting is enabled, Android will lock if it detects such movement. If set up for it, the phone can be locked and eeased remotely. Not sure which versions. Screenshot_20250301-031038_Google Play services
- Comment on How would a stateless society handle serious threats such as mass murder and terrorism? 3 weeks ago:
That’s true, but in those ages ppl still got speared in the back or ritually sacrificed. So is this more successful than all of todays states in case of murdering and terrorising? I doubt it.
- Comment on Our local newspaper is trying way too hard to insert these casino ads on their site. 3 weeks ago:
I have seen hacked pages that were modified to display casino ads, except when a search engine crawls them.
- Comment on Please allow ads! JK, you need to subscribe, too! LOL 4 weeks ago:
It was probably an entertaining exaggeration, but I don’t like how the term is being diluted by overuse. If a mosquito bites me, it’s a terrorist. Got a stone in your shoe? Believe it or not: Terrorist.
The term has serious legal consequences in many countries, therefore we should make sure people don’t forget what its true meaning is.
- Comment on Why is it that in every movie podcast, when they happen to mention actor RALPH Fiennes, always say RAY Fiennes? 4 weeks ago:
wow, that is easy to get wrong
- Comment on HELP! How do I help educate my son about his body when I know nothing about boys?? 4 weeks ago:
In my region this is handled really well by schools. Parents don’t need to worry about anything. Don’t they do that in your region?
- Comment on Sooo, where did the blatant Nazism suddenly come from? 4 weeks ago:
There are people who proud themselves in kicking puppies and more would come forward if they felt it’s acceptable.
- Comment on Sooo, where did the blatant Nazism suddenly come from? 4 weeks ago:
It’s still pretty bad, but they recruited jannies recently and it seems to have a small effect.

Just make sure your safeword is very long and contains special characters.
- Comment on Is it a pattern that every time a movie, show or animation that doesn't have a white person as the protagonist is attacked by right-wingers? 4 weeks ago:
It’s real, but you don’t get to see anything from billions of viewers who don’t mind or even enjoy a little variety. Only the five hillbilly snowflakes who feel offended by a skin tone bother to voice their stupid opinion.
- Comment on How do I make a phone call to (not from) an elevator speaker, just like what a debt collector once did? 4 weeks ago:

- Comment on Why do people from Western societies always seem to complain? 4 weeks ago:
I feel quality of life has improved massively in EU. Everything is the best it has ever been in my region.
In the past few years options to get things delivered to my home tripled. Crime rate is way down. Even though I’m not a vegan, I have many good vegan options I often choose now (like various vegan chocolate from all supermarkets near me). Public transport is super cheap at the moment. More than 90% of my company works from home. A lot of things have been automated or work online, e.g. payroll, most bills, banking, some administrative things, getting doctors appointments, etc…

i have seen this meme the third time the last few days and i’m always like: rent where?
i don’t get it. does it mean, the movie isn’t available within the services subscription, but costs additional money or does it mean it’s not even in any service and you rent it somewhere else?
