Do they wash their human-skin-suit by hand, in a laundry machine, or get it drycleaned?
Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 1 day ago
They rub it naked on a wizards beard.

My brother-in-law also refuses to use adblockers. He prefers to pay YouTube to not enshittify his watching experience. How a man on disability can justify that cost I do not know.
ttyybb@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Its a fair mentality, but there doing it wether you pay them or not

Kid should get a shovel to the face. No grace period.
jubilationtcornpone@sh.itjust.works 1 day ago
More shovels to the face. That’s the power of the Home Depot.

Everybody who works in advertisement should be reeducated to do some productive work for society instead. Like caring for old people, cleaning parks, repairing roads …
MuckyWaffles@leminal.space 1 day ago
Ah, hear go the COMMUNISTS again, with their “caring for the elderly”, and “cleaning up public spaces”.

The thing is, as long as money rules the planet, everyone’s morality has a price. I think that’s what the thing about Judas meant to convey. Or Jesus fucking shit up in the temple, for that matter.
I am a hardcore idealist. Would I help google for $100000K? No. Would I do it for a million? Uh. Would I do it for ten million? Yes. I can’t justify that other than saying that I would be able to do some extreme good for humanity with that money, start schools, bring people out of poverty, help research eco-friendly fuels, grant scholarships…
But the problem will always remain- the people who have the money to grant me ten million will ultimately have the power to influence others commit immoral acts, because that’s the power of money, and as long as money rules our societies, it means that those with the most money in the world will effectively be in power of the world, which is exactly what we see.
I’m stating the obvious, I suppose, but it seems we are all so deep into the cult of capitalism that we take it for granted and don’t remind ourselves enough that the economic system that has usurped our democracies worldwide is at the deepest core of our problems as a civilization, and they will not go away until we get rid of it and replace it with something far more equitable.

you wouldnt do it for $100000K but you would do it for less than that? (you put a K on there making it 100m which is > 10m)

they might be in one of those weird places where a billion is a million million instead of a thousand million and got threwed off
ayyy@sh.itjust.works 1 day ago
This is what the Effective Altruists were supposed to be but they somehow managed to fuck it up with narcissism like billionaires always do.
Saledovil@sh.itjust.works 1 day ago
People claim to be effective altruists when they can’t claim that they’re altruists.
Don_alForno@feddit.org 1 day ago

Wealth is power, which is why wealth, like power, must be limited.

Your refusal to pay for a browser or a social network.is what lead to this. And the people who provide those “free” services will make their money somehow.
Drusas@fedia.io 1 day ago
Paid media which still has ads proves the lie.
AmbitiousProcess@piefed.social 1 day ago
Yep. Companies don’t enshittify because it’s necessary, they enshittify because they can get away with it.
If they can put ads in your media even when you’re paying, they will, regardless of whether your payments cover the cost on their own or not.
Syndication@lemmy.today 1 day ago
Idk why Netflix is still showing people ads then…
Fifrok@discuss.tchncs.de 1 day ago
Actually 🤓, what lead to this 👆 being the state of things is corporate greed 🤑. The ‘people’ 🐽🐷 who own those ‘services’ make more money💸💸 then entire states - I belive that’s what the kids call a bruh 😑 moment.
So, I’ve been thinking 🤔, and I belive I found a solution 👍. It’s so simple 🤩, we just need to do some, let’s call them 🤫😇 ‘budget cuts’ 📉 in the highest positions 🤯🔫
PM_ME_VINTAGE_30S@lemmy.sdf.org 1 day ago
I only use those social networks the bare minimum that I have to because I have to in order to have a presence in human society. Burn corporate Internet to the fucking ground 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Jinarched@lemmy.ca 1 day ago
Didn’t care for tiny ads back then. I was there for my videos made with windows movie maker with an Evanescence track over it.
Now it’s over the top and non stop, it’s full of scammers, and it collects everything about me while it’s trying to manipulate me into becoming enraged about everything so I keep engaging with their platform eternally.
uBlock stays on.

Generous to give him 10 seconds
Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 1 day ago
5 seconds at the most since that’s what YouTube SONETIMES gives. That’s only if you feel like treating them like a human and not what they actually are.
