  I think the funniest part about those meetings or “lessons” is that it’s very clearly an attempt by the corporate leadership to try to get in front of all of the research that keeps coming out that showcases that the modern sensibilities for corporate work culture are just not working and it’s costing companies more money than it’s making them. And that companies need to acknowledge burnout and do things that attempt to fix it, but the things they need to do to fix it like paying employees more per hour and then giving them less hours is so backwards to the corporate thought of more hours less pay that they’re trying to get ahead of the research to lead it where they want it to go and it just keeps barreling through them.

  A few points:

  1. You misunderstood why you were shooting the Pinkertons. It wasn’t because you were forming unions, it’s because you were costing the government money.
  2. You are overestimating the amount of people actually care about that sort of thing. The sheer numbers of people who say one thing and then spend their money however they want is exponentially more than any that would abstain.
  3. GTA6 is going to be a zeitgeist touchstone game. People are going to buy it and play just so they won’t miss out and to be able to be a part of any conversation.
  4. People aren’t going to pirate it. “But it’s easy! And it doesn’t give money to R*!”. Is it as easy as giving a clerk $80USD? Then people who couldn’t care less about the ethics of R* aren’t going to pirate it.

  Rural SC, USA. And that depends on both the area(I’ve lived in an affluent part of SC and not), as well as the individual school districts. But “resource” level facilities employees are usually paid just above minimum wage. And part time and full time facilities workers I’ve seen have $20/hr+.

  Average teaching salary(not hourly, salary) is $50,178/yr. Which comes out to a bit over $24/hr. Now as I said that’s salary. So unlike the facilities workers who are hourly, teachers don’t get over time, often have to use their home time to supplement school time, regularly have to buy their own supplies, and the other items listed in the meme not the least of which is that student debt still equates to the trades and the like being a better option.

  But I’m sure having that degree and “shaping the future” makes up for it.

  Well as an argument I can agree with you. There is a lot to be said for “you don’t know until it happens”.

  That being said, we aren’t discussing the broad strokes, we’re looking at this meme. And from context and wording shows not pragmatism, but self centered behavior(please note the intentional distinction between selfish behavior and self centered behavior).
