The slaughterhouse I work at had Labor Day off and then today they told us we’re now gonna be working 6 days a week.

Asked my nephew who joined the Marines about this. He said this is a “hot tray”. Basically just leftovers for the people that couldn’t make it to meal time for various reasons (his example was 2 people who had to guard their gear while everyone else eats) so they make a tray of whatever is available for them when they’re allowed to go eat.

I was listening to a podcast recently, New York Videogames Critics Circle, and they talked about The Last of Us 1 and 2 and Neil Druckman as if it was the first game to ever make the player feel emotions. Like not just that it did so successfully, but that it did it at all.

There’s a guy in my town that has a massive “THE EARTH IS FLAT” sticker on the back of his car. Every time I see him I keep hoping it’s a troll, but I live in Missouri so it wouldn’t surprise me if he actually believes it.

Well I can educate about as well as AI. Regurgitating info I found on a vaguely related Reddit thread as well as include incorrect info on something completely unrelated.

They’re a couple that just go crazy with what they expect from people that stay at their place. The clip that I first saw that I think made them go viral was them upset the guests left the TV remote in a different room (on the table next to where they keep their rulebook), moved a footstool, left the bed unmade, and left a few things of food in the fridge in containers. They do charge a hefty cleaning fee and have some crazy rules with steep fines like charging I think like $50 for every minute past their early checkout time or something.

I’ve been enjoying watching the Internet collectively bully that one AirBnB couple, Cassie and Jon.

Your first paragraph was enough. You didn’t need to go on a schizo rant against somebody that isn’t here cause you feel a constant need to defend yourself.

- Comment on How did you guys deal with the death of a parent? 1 month ago:
I lost my mom back in January. I was luckily already going to a therapist who helped me deal with the initial shock and panic of her no longer being in my daily life. It’s still hard knowing I can’t speak to her about random bullshit daily like I used to. I guess I just have small moments where I talk to her ashes as if she was still here since I knew her well enough to know how she’d react.

I go to the movie theater every Saturday and have been since I think 2022. I usually go to one of the earlier showings so I can see the movie and still have the rest of my day. I rarely have problems at a movie theater and the few times I have, usually someone will have sorted it out. Might be because of how early I go and the area I live in (I live in the Midwest 40 minutes away from the nearest major city).

I’m watching Big City Greens as I type this. That show is so damn good. Surprised even 4 seasons in it still keeps the quality up.

I know this is most likely a sign at a hotel, but I can’t stop thinking of like a YMCA or neighborhood pool having rooms just for fucking.

Not in my lifetime or the lifetimes of my youngest family members. Bernie is a centrist and he’s seen as too radical left.

That was one of the options for my gf and mine’s vacation this summer, but we ultimately decided to do NYC instead. I do miss being in Cali.

Not sure if “on-call” in your question are still getting paid. My cousin is a volunteer firefighter and has been one since he was a teen before he was even old enough to drive. Never got paid for it and does it in a small town in the middle of nowhere. He would get calls in the middle of the night to go do it (I still remember the thing going off loud af while I was sleeping when I’d stay the night).
