  Tbh I feel like “sexy cop” costumes aren’t hot to me anymore because it makes me think about real cops ☹️ same with “sexy soldier” costumes

    Attended a really interesting seminar on the semiotics of kink and fetishwear. It was at International Mr. Leather, so you can imagine it was well attended.

    I think it’s a balancing act. You have to be careful not to fetishize them but also you can mock the powers that be in that sense. Not for their sake (you’re not making them feel bad of course), for your community’s sake. A lot of Tom of Finland’s art was around parodying and undoing the “seriousness” with which the state takes itself.

    But like I said, it can also become aesthetic only, at which point the meaning becomes forgotten and you end up just fetishizing cops and military without real intentionality.

  People generally don’t say that kind of thing to cops in the flesh, no. It’s mostly an internet thing.

  Never minded being called a pig; pigs are very intelligent, sometimes cute, and usually friendly.

  Never minded being called a racist; it’s always out of nowhere based on virtually nothing - because I happen to not be a racist.

    It’s a survival instinct. Take your gun and other weapons away while still wearing the outfit and you’ll see everyone start calling you out since their life is less on the line.

      Nah, I interact with people who know I was a cop all the time without a gun or the uniform. People are much less hostile to others when they don’t have a veil of internet anonymity.
