It’s a survival instinct. Take your gun and other weapons away while still wearing the outfit and you’ll see everyone start calling you out since their life is less on the line.

Nah, I interact with people who know I was a cop all the time without a gun or the uniform. People are much less hostile to others when they don’t have a veil of internet anonymity.

  It’s a shame you’re getting down voted, seeming just for admitting on the Internet that you used to be a cop and not in the merits of your comment. Regardless of the sentiment people feel towards the police, it doesn’t change the fact that exceedingly few people would actually confront someone in real life like that, whether they are a cop, a healthcare CEO, or an AI bro.

    True, and that’s kinda my point; the OP is built on a false premise.
    
    Plenty of people in this thread huffing pure copium that everyone who’s ever been nice to me secretly hates me, when in reality some people like (ex-)cops, some are indifferent, and some dislike them. As you say, a rare % of the latter say something about it.
