Satisfying and sad at the same time. Leftovers are always a good thing.

Managed to get the Minipeelers to agree to do an early shopping centre trip tomorrow. If we’re going to do big busy places I prefer to head out early. They’re champing at the bit to spend their Christmas money 😆Went to one of the local strip shopping places to grab a little grocery and it’s so quiet, many shops closed.

Dog has been walked, lawn has been mowed. There are leftovers in the fridge ready to go for dinner. I think it might be video game time.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I always thought of leftovers as the rejects. The runners up that didn’t make it into the first meal. The 2s. The losers.
Anyway enjoy your meal.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
no such thing as left overs
just like restaurants cook large quantities and give many servings I too make mass quantities and keep some for other days
I always thought left overs was was food left on plates, not pots

Had a bad dream that I was inefficient at an airport. Didn’t have my passport ready, my backpack was a mess, held up lines etc
StudChud@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Not a bad dream, that’s psychic damage 😭

It kind of blows my mind how people meet partners on dating apps. What do you mean you go from complete strangers, to judging each other from photos and prompts, to lovers?
People in my life keep telling me to download the apps, giving me the line, “They’re good for neurodivergent people like you.”
AhhHhhhhHhhhhh! Excuse me?!
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Fuck the apps. Admittedly that’s from a male perspective. Real life works best for me because I don’t waste my time with people that don’t have the right vibe.
Plus, the apps thing is so impersonal. Half the fun of meeting someone is that first convo in person. Sometimes it’s easier to get a clear picture of someone when they don’t have unlimited time to formulate a response lol

I’ve known my new gf of a few months for 27 years. All of my exs I was friends with to some extent before we had a go at it.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
“So what did youse guys do?”
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Blehhh. From what I can see there’s lots of flaky and even bad behaviour on the apps. Especially with the expectation for a fast pace which could lead to dating, sleeping with or trusting someone you don’t know very well.
The people in your life think they want something good for you and may even pressure you and set you up to try and get you squared away, but consider for yourself whether it’s something you want or are ready for at this point. Whether that’s something that feels good for you.
There’s this rush to try and find a partner in your twenties and it can be lonely or even subtly exclusionary of you if you’re not dating. The covert icing out and social pressure on single women to partner up is real.
But you may not know yourself or have a stable base yet. And there’s a lot of turds out there that can really derail your progress in life. Maybe this time might be something you prefer to invest in yourself. Just my 2 cents.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 3 days ago
yes! thank you! I think they meant it in the sense that online communication can be easier for ND folk, but you eventually have to meet in person and also what you said about not being able to see red flags. I was definitely in that spot talking to people online as a youngin and that wasn’t even through dating apps!
society is excellent at putting this pressure, especially coming from a family being one of the younger cousins, with all the others having felt that “pressure” to “find someone”. I think people comment about things like this because they were once insecure about it!

Melbcat is kinda retching/coughing. Not sure if hairballs or asthma. I’ve given her the puffer, an anti nausea pill, and have her carrier ready to go if needed.

Slow day of rest. Made GF bread for ham sandwiches. Did a couple loads of washing. Went for a walk and read most of a book with the cricket in the background. Awesome.

Missing my old outdoorsy hobbies
It would be cool to try and forage fruit to make jam, pies or try to brew some fruit wine (assuming enough fruit can be found for any of it).
Unfortunately I’m not physically up to it, still struggling to eat and can’t really drink alcohol, and don’t want to be going about in this area.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 days ago
so many hugs
then bring the outdoors to you 🙂 Bird feeders, a nice garden, pets and such. Try astronomy, cloud watching etc etc. The world is all around us.

slow and steady pace of work, everything will be done 🙂

grand marnier trifle is being made, a new loaf of panettone, some herb dinner rolls, and the turkey breast and chicken maryland is defrosting. The trifle will be as dairy free as possible, I was so sick yesterday morning from the allergy. 😖housework being done
and I picked up free two solid nice side/bed tables that the young seagoons can have if they want

Sounds like fantastic fun. I love the crazed lava lamp stage. I’d put something on but don’t have a bottle stash since we moved.
Taleya@aussie.zone 5 days ago
Given we’re in the silly season, i reckon if you put a wash on now you’d have plenty of bottles by the time it comes to distill :P
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 days ago
That looks cool. I wonder what the multivitamin does
Taleya@aussie.zone 5 days ago
Tbh you don’t need a multivit, just B12

So I am looking into getting a neck pillow for my 10 hour overnight flight, because the one with beads will not fit around my neck. I found this product description quite amusing
spoiler
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 days ago
sounds good
tho I always find what to do with my arms and more problematic
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 4 days ago
That too
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 4 days ago
The ones you blow up are good because you can deflate when not using them and they take up no room
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 4 days ago
The neck pillow or the one you put on the tray table?
