Yeah, partner is watching The Rookie on 7, and I bought Astroneer on sale (~$14 down from $40, #winning) and have been playing that a lot. I didn’t buy any DLC so I had to laugh when the Devs had to apologise for breaking the game with that DLC and have been pumping out patches and hotfixes 😂😂 none of this affected me in the slightest so I’m having an absolute blast with the base game 😂😂😂

Friend from high school was one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met. Haven’t spoken to her in ages and from our mutual friends, it seems like she’s joined some church called Church on the Hill. It seems culty. I hope she’s okay.

    old fart rant:

back in the day you could be trying to work out how to do something on an obsolete OS and post a question and if people didn’t know they’d just walk the fuck past the post and leave it there for people who knew what they were talking about. If you got no answers, you kept plugging away yourself.

nowadays you get straight up headshotted by some uppity fuckwit mod “this software is EOL” aye no fucking shit sherlock has it occurred to you that we are aware of this and there is a specific reason we persist?

    source
    • melbaboutown@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨days⁩ ago

Magic phrase to copypaste: “Not the question I asked”

      😂

      source
      • Taleya@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨days⁩ ago

It doesn’t matter what question you asked, the software is EOL. Please click here and educate yourself on why running an outdated OS is a bad idea.

        Closing this thread now.

    conversation with my dad

Dad: I can’t work anymore, my arm’s gonna fall off (he does a trade as a weekend job) Me: what’s wrong with it? Dad: tennis elbow Me: what did the Dr say? Dad: they’ve done all they could Me: what about a physio? Dad: they’re going to make me do exercises 🫣🫣🫣🫣

    source
    • SaneMartigan@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨days⁩ ago

He should get the forearm strap and watch a few youtubes on it. Massage the extensor compartment (hairy side muscle) of the arm with the elbow tip of the other arm. And do the exercises or it’ll get worse.

      source
      • StudChud@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨days⁩ ago

Word. I hurt my superior and inferior extensor retinaculum in my left ankle and had to do some physio to strengthen them again. All because I wore bad shoes and was very stationary during COVID lockdowns.

Had to get one of those exercise strap loop things and do exercises with it, and I still do the tips toe exercises for both ankles (one hand on wall, stand on one leg and move from flat foot to tip toe and back, for each leg, a few times a day).

I’ve saturated all the mould with a spray bottle of neat cleaning vinegar and left it to soak. But I’m out of energy and my head hurts. Guess I leave it to sit until I get the energy to respray and wipe down.

I’m genuinely considering getting myself some older physical media like the secondhand PS2 plus games and dvds, plus a cd player or discman and adding to my collection of old cds. And getting lifts to the op shop or library for books.

Draw something simple and actually use my paints.

Vivid dreams all night have left me feeling exhausted.

    Crazy Dreams

Dreams about attending a Mandy Lee Brooks ghost meditation (she sucked, she just rambled), running 3km with my cousin in strappy sandals, hiding on board a boat/plane and having to convince the pilot who caught me that I was just in my Whacky Adventure Era (thankfully he believed me - might have helped that I’d rescued a tiny dog) and getting invited to eat at some super exclusive restaurant. It all happened in the same dream, all disjointed themes but flowing together. The colours were so intense and there was always water everywhere. Followed by a dream about friends who had little gadget like brooms that could erase the world. And trying to run away from my own wedding because my mother was about to ruin it. Or maybe I was running towards it but trying to ditch my mum? Am so so tired now.

      Wow, that’s a whole novella.

I slept for maybe three hours, woke up and was awake for two and a half, then slept for another hour. In that hour, I had a dream that someone I met recently confessed their love to me. It was so weird.

Ranting about how the spring cleaning list just grows.

Fucksake. I’ve been really good about airing my place out regularly, but there’s one set of windows and blinds I don’t open due to privacy and just saw mould has secretly grown behind there. So this means at some point I have to clean all that with vinegar and paper towel then soak it in Conchrobium. (Thankfully I bought a jug of concentrate.) Then buy some net curtains to block the view of inside while I occasionally raise the blind to keep the damp at bay. I can’t drill holes because 1. metal frame 2. and 2. even if it wasn’t I am not spacking it back up and prising out a chip of gloss paint to get it matched when I move. So I either need to get a tension rod long enough to span it or use command hooks and hope there’s no drama or residue on removal. I want to get my bond back. There’s a conduit rod at Spotlight with spring ends attachments I assume you just bung on? This would look neater but I’ll have to measure and see if one of the available lengths is enough. If not it’s the sticky hooks. I’ll have to check another risky window while I’m at it. I could just clean them and throw a disposable moisture absorber tub behind there. Already did that before. But they fill up so fast and then I forget to buy more.

    source
    • Taleya@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨days⁩ ago

Those expandy rods are awesome, bunnings sells them too. You can get from 80cm to about 2m.

Do you get enough sunlight in that window to bung in a cheap solar powered fan? A charcoal bag would also help

      source
      • melbaboutown@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨days⁩ ago

It’s 2m, but a friend just gave me a good suggestion about putting command hooks on sideways and running them along a curtain wire.

I’m a bit leery both of the sticking power and potential damage because of the crap gloss paint on the frame/trim but it does work out a lot cheaper than what I was going to do.

Unfortunately there’s not a lot of sunlight in that window and I can’t leave it open. I’d only even have the blind open under duress as the cheapest options are sheer curtains that hide less than lace, and a lot of sus looky lous go past.

Charcoal bags are a good idea, I know chalk bundles are easily accessible and eco friendly but don’t seem very powerful. I could also just buy the generic disposable moisture tubs (bad but cheaper than refilling brand). I considered a dehumidifier but that’s more spendy and clutter
