âYou tell us what your salary expectations are.â really just means âlow-ball yourself because youâre scared and we know damn well itâs hard to communicate with other candidates.
Tell me what youâre willing to pay and we can go from there. Tell your employees what that position pays, and have that be available. There is ZERO reason not to unless youâre actively trying to hide something from the people youâre exploiting.
And a message to anyone who thinks itâs ok and isnât even benefitting from it: Shove a hot poker up your ass, idiot.
Yeah, it taints the entire relationship right from the start. So when you know theyâve already messed it up, keep that in mind: itâs your best way to get a raise right off the bat if you play the same game.
You have to ask for the money. No one is going to throw it at your feet.
Job before last, boss offers me a raise, told him I thought I should be making at least $50K. âI thought I was paying you that? OK, if you feel your work is worth that, Iâll get with payroll and see where we currently are.â Got a fatter raise.
Hell, even working a shit job at Loweâs had me an offer on a raise within a few months. Was chatting with the GM in his office one day about a thing I thought should be fixed. He very pointedly told me that if someone working for him felt they were doing a good job and deserved more pay, even if it wasnât time for a scheduled raise, he would be glad to talk about it. HINT. I quit in a huff very soon after that, but at the time we were both trying to get time to meet.
âFortune favors the bold.â True both figuratively and literally.
Who loses their mind? Arenât salary discussions commonplace every year?
No. Yearly salary discussions are only common for highly paid professionals.
I am now, but 20 years ago I wasnât and I still had my yearly performance review and talked to my boss about raises.
Thatâs also why I try to do the least possible.
If you donât expect promotion or even retention, yeah, quiet quitting naturally follows.
Spend your energy finding your next position in a competing company.
The only way to be comfortable in this system is to disadvantage others, step on othersâ backs. The most ethical way to earn comfort in a greedy capitalist society is to earn, borrow and steal as much money as you can. The moral code of a thief stands: Steal only from the rich.
God forbid me having a dream of getting a promotion.
Promotion: tripple the workload, but for zero additional pay
Its still just debt slavery under the hood.
Can we not write complete sentences anymore?
There are two kinds of people; those who can infer.

if you ask for a raise and they say no, then keep working or find a better paying job. making a meme about it doesnât change anything.
