AC2 came out 16 years ago almost. That was likely the first game I ever preordered and bought online. Good times.
I distinctly remember that. I remember it because it was the the first instance of my favorite video game butchering itself. It looled pretty and I thought it would be but I stuck it out to figure out that the parts don’t go together the same.
I had met a gang of AC that hooked me up with the MoA for my playstation back in the day. I discarded FFVII so fast and never picked the chain back up, ever. Fuck that. I spent the week figure out how to play with the bot. They gave me the crack to go strait to the 1V1 50 and get my practicw and learning on and skip the game nonsense itself.
They gave me school lectures on how my human legged light post of no armor and…WTF…no sword? No weapons? You can’t put anything on that mech when you got those rockets there. They’re too big. You’ll miss everything you shoot at.
Then we got to playing. It took one guy picking a map that was a cave I couldn’t fly out and navigate outside the pit i fell into cuz i couldn’t see anything since i move so damn fast they couldn’t shoot at me anywhere with anything else in the game.
I guess AC2 might have had the old setup somehow…i just didnt care to play it. It wasn’t the same.
I have actually completely quit all video games and don’t miss them. Maybe if i figure out hwo to emulate the original…and chain it to another emulator…but bar that…no temptation even exists anymore.
…Armored Core 2? Everyone else is talking about Assassin’s Creed 2…

Back in early 2000’s my grandma’s retirement home had an activities lobby with board games, billards, and a PC. Diablo 1 was installed on the PC. Played a little bit but it was a slow paced game and i was impatient as a kid

I had a similar experience with my sister’s father (RIP), but he literally just thought 144+Hz gaming monitors were like those very expensive 100Hz CRT TVs. He always tried to “set the correct colors” on both the monitor and his last monitor, usually by working against each other. He used to play more complex games, but later on only could play turn based ones.

I’m currently watching a granny’s let’s play of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on YouTube. She’s lovely. And has an avatar of an angry grandma holding the controller the wrong way around.

I’m enjoying that game quite a bit. I’m like 10 hrs in and it really feels like it’s just starting. I hope that there’s a lot more coming in the story.

That game is so awesome! I started watching it, because I thought I couldn’t handle the parrying. Then I pirated it. Saw how awesome it was on story mode (which is there because Maelle’s voice actress requested it). Then I stopped watching it when the story picked up speed. And then I bought it.
I’m almost done, i think. But I want to see most of the side content. And just now I encountered an optional boss I don’t think I will be able to beat. But maybe I can find some good Pictos in other areas to make it viable.
