My dad was made to quit by my mum in 1973 when they had their first. By my birth in 77 I was really only around smokers at parties or friends houses.

It’s such a sliding scale. I never thought I had until my son was diagnosed and I said “wait he gets a lot of this from me.” So I got diagnosed at 40. Hindsight I very clearly self-medicate with copious amounts of tea.
Also explains the drug abuse when I was younger, and the failed relationships.
Only thing I’m still working on is the relationships. I’m shit with them. Self sabotage constantly.

I remember the first day taking ADHD meds (biphentin) and laughing to myself that immediately after taking I went back to bed and said “well I guess I do have ADHD”.
Concerta scared the shit out of me though. At that point I made th executive decision that I made it 40 years without meds. I can manage without them.

Just want to add it’s not just tb working class. Governments have been systematically kneecapped since post-WW2 in favour of pro-business and elitist whims. This is why we slowly are seeing our social safety nets stripped away across the world with nothing in return but diminishing returns.
We sell off public phones, hydro, water, etc. to fund the fact that we are taxing the rich and large corporations less and less. It’s been a spiral for decades and decades at this point and no one cause can be pinpointed because it’s been a series of changes that have brought it on while a small segment of the working class continue to see themselves as embarrassed millionaires and champion on the further stripping of our safety nets.
It’s going to get far worse before it starts to get better. That’s the only thing I can be sure of.
