I know daylight savings cops a lot of flack, but the nights it ends are awesome. Extra late omega ultimate deluxe party night! Or if you’re of the get off my lawn!/yelling at clouds age, it’s a free sleep in! Unless you have kids, then you don’t get either.

Pour one out for the staff at the Arts Centre where the website (the one people need to download their tickets) is down on a Saturday night during comedy festival 🥃

the Arts Centre website is a steaming pile of shit almost constantly, as is much about that organisation. not FOH workers.

I love a dinner that is just throwing together whatever left in the fridge.

(tonight it was veggies and a salmon fillet thrown in the air fryer before being made into a frittata).

Sometimes it worked. Otjer times, not so much.

I made a music video playlist for the kids and I did that thing where I forgot every music video I’ve ever watched.

I’ve been adding to it over time and I’ve got over 300 in there now. Much better than the stuff on YouTube kids as well

Before I learnt of Spotify I used to organise my music into “songs I like [year] edition” playlists. It worked well at first, especially with adblock, except since I had them in there to listen not watch I usually went for unofficial lyric videos just to avoid all the silence and noisy bits that come with music videos. That started going downhill when everybody started getting nuked by copyright claims. About half of them are either deleted or private now

I’m trying to take the Rage approach where I get the full video as unaltered as possible. That means generally getting the videos from the official channels so there should be no surprise privatisations

So Aldi has branded clothing (as in “Aldi” brand) limited edition coming next week. I assume there must be a market for it, since they wouldn’t sell it if they didn’t think people would buy it. But I’m left wondering whether there are going to be people lining up at opening for their chance to own an Aldi hoodie or T-shirt.

What sort of person buys this?

They have to pay me to wear their advertisement garb.

Is this going to be Aldi brand like anko brand T-shirts, where you wouldn’t know unless you saw the tag, or is this Aldi brand like a Nike or Supreme shirt?

I’d consider buying them if they’re plain and cheap, but I do not wear anything with visible branding, except shoes since there’s not much choice there. But everything else must not have it’s brand visible or I just don’t wear it

      • Nath@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

Like the latter, only bold like a sports team branding. I’ve just edited my comment with the clothing in question.

I’d have a look at the shoes and maybe the brolly. Nothing else appeals. The shoes look fairly discreet.

    • useless_modern_god@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

I would probably wear the hoodie but I wouldn’t go to Aldi just to get that.

    • dumblederp@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

I assume it’ll be plain with only the tag saying Aldi.

nah, a lot of it is aldi colours, with the aldi logo on it.

A beautiful day launching the new kids club at our neighbourhood house. We had almost 40 families join us and all the snags got eaten.

This was the first event I took a back seat on and I initially felt really guilty “leaving everyone else to do all the work” (even though my stepping back was planned and carefully negotiated, as I’m still dealing with mystery health issues) but the entire team remarked that it all came together easily as “many hands make light work” and for once we had enough funding to bring on the appropriate number of staff for the project!

The weather held out and I met so many amazing locals, I couldn’t have asked for a better day.

And the timing worked out perfectly with the MRI I’d been scheduled for. Packed up after the event jumped on the bus, and got there at the exact right time.

Am I the only one who finds getting an MRI relaxing? It’s an excuse to lie down and be still while zoning out and pretending I’m being faxed somewhere. The technician tried playing me some Muzak over the headphones and laughed when I asked her to stop because it was messing with my ability to enjoy the magnetic dubstep.

Had an appointment for an NBN tech visit yesterday morning, cause the internet in the place we moved into was shot. Mate came in at 830 in the morning.

He quickly determined it wasn’t our box that’s the problem, but a faulty thingamajig on the street post, but he didn’t have the right parts on him. He had to leave, but he promised he’d get it sorted within the day. We were prepared to wait it out until the Monday, but mate came back on at almost 7pm on a Friday, just to get it sorted lile he said, and sorted it he did.

Just thought that was so nice of him, and I really appreciate it. Gave him a drink early on, but wish I gave him more of it, and hopefully he doesn’t mind all his work went into a night’s worth of very bad Dota.
