Welp, time to go take the longest shit of my life.

    -that Russian cop

    • OwlPaste@lemmy.world ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

Thats not a cop, but a “vote support officer” who help you vote for the right candidate even if you already have one in mind 😄😉

He saw that the lady clearly did not need support making a decision and went to get some coffee.

After all this is just a prime example of a far more efficient democracy in action. Why waste time voting individually? Its clearly faster to vote at the same time.

    The GOPs wet dream.

    source
    • CosmicTurtle@lemmy.world ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

No GOP wet dream is basically what North Korea does.

You stand in line to vote and are handed a card. There is one box for the “candidate”. You vote by putting your card in the box while everyone watches.

You have the choice to not vote.

Guess how many don’t vote b

Putin got 87% of the vote and yet in polls he only got 86% support. Definitely rigged.

Unfortunately there are not a lot of third party data sources on these kinds of opinions but prior attempts have still suggested a fairly high level of support. Truths in Russia are all buried under thick layers of corruption, brainwashing and bullshit. I have a couple of Russian contacts that anectodotaly claim the support level is still quite high for this asshole, but you have to keep in mind that the majority of people there have been spoon fed lies their entire lives. It makes it that much easier to feed them bigger and bigger lies.

Check the second link. It’s a National endowment for democracy backed polling company. NED is founded by US Congress, has US Congress and State department oversight and funding.

The director of the Levada Center himself stated in 2015 that drawing conclusions from Russian poll results or comparing them to polls in democratic states was irrelevant, as there is no real political competition in Russia, where, unlike in democratic states, Russian voters are not offered any credible alternatives and public opinion is primarily formed by state-controlled media, which promotes those in power and discredits alternative candidates.

      source
      • considine@lemmy.ml ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

Yes, he is essentially pro Western which is why the NED funded the Levada center.

Putin had a meeting with the other candidates yesterday, by the way. I think that opposition is likely kept our of power by various means.

Especially important if the opposition is funded by the UK and US, like Navalny’s Democratic Alternative

They seem to be surprised that the box is not suitable to accommodate the whole 500-sheet pack of ballots 🌚

    interesting, what’s the source?

In Russia they give very limited access to recordings from the voting stations. So there is no actual way to verify this video. Probably someone leaked it because it’s funny.

I personally found it on some pro ukrainian telegram chanel.

I fear this is the way South Africa is going. The African National Congress (ANC) is not the same ANC that fought for democracy. All the moral leaders have been ejected by the corrupt. They blatantly steal money meant to uplift the nation. The leaders flash their lavish lifestyles while majority live in poverty. Corruption is rife within the party.

The ANC has taken side the side of Gaza, which is morally correct. Yet, the remain on the fence with Russia and Ukraine, because of their close ties with Putin and Co.

We fear that our democratic in 2 months time is at risk and the ANC will use playbooks from Russia.

If South Africa has any chance of turning things around the ANC needs to be voted out.

They just reminded him that if he doesn’t find something to keep him busy outside for a few minutes, he’ll have a tragic accident the next time he goes near a high window or ledge.
