“Man, I wish it wasn’t so hard to get up in the morning.”
“Try going to bed earlier.”
“NO!!!”

Stick to a consistent schedule and regulate caffeine intake to less than 400mg

How would you even begin to know your caffeine intake
SadSadSatellite@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 hours ago
Basic math? Are you unaware of how much coffee/tea/soda you consume in a given period or did you forget the /s?

Caffeine pills. Alternatively, basically the same way you do alcohol

Making a habit will make it easier though

or you could get a job that starts midday

I find that having a cat that religiously wakes you up somewhere between 6 and 7 every morning to be an incredibly effective bedtime retrainer. There’s only so many months you can be sleep deprived before going insane or collapsing.

He’s starting as early as 4 or 5 these days, Kitty please let me at least sleep until the alarm 🫠

That’s my cat now.
But my prior cat would sleep on my chest, forcing me to be even more late.

Whole life I had a very hard time waking up. Early just wasn’t for me.
Then I woke up to the house burning down around me, trapped in a basement.
Now I wake up between 5:30 and 6:00 am every morning without an alarm clock, in fight or flight mode, so I don’t even need coffee.
Not a solution that’s right for everyone.

Umm. Sorry man. There are some good meds that can help with that, like Prazosin, which blocks norepinephrine, which is the fight-or-flight chemical. It also blocks nightmares from being remembered if taken at bedtime. And it keeps your blood pressure like, textbook perfect. If you have a doc you can ask. Good luck. I have PTSD which used to cause the same thing you have.
