My All Feed is basically empty now or consists of posts with zero or very few comments. I love the filter option, but it has also made it quite clear what is being pushed the most on Lemmy.
Yeah people have been talking about having less and less activity on Lemmy.
IMO it’s because of the content. The platform works flawlessly but unfortunately lemmy came about during a time that politics being so pervasive.
It might be a general trend. I’m willing to bet all social media is slowly dying but the for profits inject bots to keep their numbers up.

Our cat is not much into catching mice. We once lived in an allotment house, which is mostly a shed. We once had a mouse in our bedroom, we had to wake up the cat. We placed her near the mouse, so she could see it. She just lied down and continued to sleep.
My issue with that is that I would like getting the raw deal once in a while to not stay uninformed, something like multiple custom filters would be cool. All we have right now is the subscribed list and the All list, which is filtered. Would be nice to have several filter lists.
No one is getting uninformed! Especially when tv, internet and people speak about USA and Trump 24/7. It hardly to miss any of that, except if you live in the mountains with no internet or tv.

People in my friends group stopped posting news stuff because they assume everyone’s seen everything already lol
ever since Donald Trump became the president of the USA, i have heard from irl people or news that: the “arrest” of Venezuelas president, threats to conquer Greenland, the US vice president being mad about my country banning a russian supported fascist from being a candidate, Israel funding and support and thats it i think
though it does make sense considering i dont really have a way to affect the USA and all of those things are about international events
How do I set that up?
I’m still quite new to Lemmy. I still don’t quite get how it all works, haha. I’m using the Thunder app (don’t ask me why), and when I go to settings it’s the second option I’m presented with. Then you just add keywords for the things you’d like to filter out.
I can see why those are important, but I don’t wanna be more angry lol
I think i should look up the filter function… So far I just blocked the most communities in all which do not use englisch or German.
I also blocked YouTube links because of the extreme amount of reposts of YouTube videos on here

It’s primarily Linux posts that’s left haha. Luckily, I don’t mind that, as I have recently started using Linux again.

Sure, but i’ve just reached a point where I don’t want to get bummed out, everytime I open a social media app.
There must be positive things to talk about, and not just the enshittification of everything and the end of the world.

Yes, reading every horrible news article 24-7 is your MORAL DUTY and any attention to anything else, even if due to mental health concerns, makes you one of THEM and a BAD PERSON. Any distraction whatsoever is EVIL.
Have you considered the effect our emotional landscape has over our mental health, our effectiveness to pursue the world we want and the wellbeing of those around us? Sometimes people need distractions, friend.

I definitely get that! And it is definitely an issue. Personally, I feel like the state of the world is constantly knocking on my door. It’s almost claustrophobic. I vote for parties and politicians I believe in, I try to avoid supporting the ones who try to fuck up our world by not using their products or buy them.
But besides that, I not sure what else I can do, and I’m definitely up for suggestions.

I don’t care about things that happen in my country cause rest of the people don’t. I have stopped reading news in the last 3-4 years cause the situation is hopeless.
Same goes for USA.

I believe not reading news is what got us here. Too many have given up and don’t take a stance, which allows the situation to just get worse and worse.
But, I also stopped reading news. I stopped the day Trump won the election. The world is a shit show and I won’t allow my mood to get dragged down every day. I have a family and kids and I want them to have a good life and a fun dad to be around.
If things like what happens with the ICE raids are happening, the Epstein files, dictatorship suddenly threatens everything I’m not burying my head in the sand, but I want to dose the amount of news I consume.

Both people not reading good news sources and people reading bad news sources is what got us here. It lead to tons of people voting for a conman who lied to their face after his toadies told his base them exactly what he’d do, and tons of people staying home when it mattered.
I know voting is one of the least effective ways of making change, but people have to realize that not voting is a great way to allow negative change to take hold.
