- Comment on Day 185 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots 2 days ago:
While i was on my way out my friend fell on me and killed us both.
I don’t think I’d ever play this game, but this is tempting me to give it a shot.

The necktie, but I think it would look better just slightly larger.

- Comment on Video Games Can’t Afford to Look This Good 3 weeks ago:
It’s nice to see gaming covered in NYT at all. The article generally rings hollow to me. I’m not an industry expert, but:
- It’s easy to be profitable when you’re just making a sandbox and your players make the games, but at that point are you a game developer? (Roblox)
- High end graphics cards have become so expensive that people can’t afford gaming with good graphics
- AAA developers aren’t optimizing games as well as they used to, so only high end hardware would even run them
- AAA is more focused on loot boxes, microtransactions, season passes, and cinematics all wrapped up in great visuals. That’s at the expense of innovative gameplay and interesting stories. Making the graphics worse won’t get execs to greenlight better games, just uglier ones. And they’ll still be $70.
- Even when games are huge successes and profitable, studios are getting bought and shut down (EA, Microsoft, Sony?), so it’s hard to say the corps are hurting.
- Comment on Tawny Newsome Says Live Action Star Trek Workplace Comedy Will Explore Life Outside The Federation 3 weeks ago:
Star Trek always had some levity. And all the other new Trek has always felt too serious - they’ve been constantly saving the Federation/humanity/Galaxy/universe. If they need to make a funny show on order to tell a funny story, then give. Go for it.
- Comment on Some Older PC games I have, just wanted to share. 4 weeks ago:
Some classics in there for sure. For those that haven’t played it, Oni was a favorite of mine from the era. I don’t think it got a lot of attention at the time, or even today. This was Bungie near the end of its Mac-first pre-Halo era.

You might like The Orville, too.
- Comment on ‘Lower Decks’ Series Finale “The New Next Generation” Review, Plus Mike McMahan Interview 4 weeks ago:
I loved Lower Decks, and I hope somehow those stories continue. Did people who are new to Star Trek enjoy it, too?
As an aside, I think that was something that made Prodigy fantastic: it was a serialized program with episodic stories that didn’t require any understanding of Star Trek beforehand. The main characters weren’t part of the Federation, so the audience got to learn alongside them.

- Comment on Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter launches in fall 2025 worldwide for PS5, Switch, and PC 4 weeks ago:
The original version (or is it the first remake?) it’s still on Steam and runs great. I just finished it a few months ago.
Does redoing the graphics of a relatively modern-game make it worth $60? I’m interested in understanding the perspective of folks that are planning to buy.

Without Lower Decks, it feels like there will be much less to talk about, anyway.

I don’t think Lemmy folks care about Reddit. Maybe also vice versa. You can’t have a war if there isn’t any conflict.

I never played 3, only 1 and a little of 2. Does anyone have a good video recommendation on how severe the problem is in 3?
- Comment on Black Myth: Wukong producer on The Game Awards top prize snub: "I came all the way here for nothing!" 4 weeks ago:
As the article says, since his comments were run through machine translation, it’s possible they’re meant more in jest rather than seriously. I’ll keep a charitable perspective on this until we learn more.
- Comment on Does the NVIDIA App cripple your PC gaming performance? (Answer: no it does not) 5 weeks ago:
With how built up the apps are these days, and how much data they collect and upload back to corp HQ, it’s good to check and confirm the performance impact.
