Wingman is the term you’re looking for.
But in my date’s opinion, he was clam jamming her!

I had a girl bring a guy friend along on our first date without giving me a heads up for the same reason. I was like, ok that’s a little weird but whatever. I’m certainly not going to give someone shit for doing something that makes them feel comfortable. Ended up chatting it up with the guy friend who turned out to be super cool.
So me and the girl end up seriously dating after a while and she later tells me that she spent most of our first date trying to subtly get her friend to leave so that she could spend more time with me.

This is clearly a sensitive topic for you, so believe me when I say that I’m only talking about myself here. Yes, humans have included meat in their diets for thousands of years, but the recent changes that I feel shift the paradigm are: the scope and scale of industrial farming, the brutal conditions animals now face, and the fact that we have a good enough concept of human dietary requirements that people can finally make the choice to remove animal products from their diets in a healthy way.

A given person’s definition of “old” is usually about 15 years older than they are. My boss is 65 and calls 70 year olds “young”.

I won’t speak for other vegans, but my research into beekeeping and honey production turned me against the industry for the following reasons:
- Beekeepers will commonly clip the wings of queens to keep them from swarming or leaving.
- Semen is commonly extracted from bees by crushing them.
- Honey taken from hives is commonly replaced with a nutrient-devoid sugar solution, affecting the health of the bees.
- Selective breeding of honeybees has made them more susceptible to diseases which can also affect native insects.
- Honeybees have been shown to cause serious disruptions to plant-pollinator networks, putting local pollinators at great risk.

Dried prunes, apples and pears have, I believe, the highest poop to volume ratio of any food.

“Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” (2023). Included in Amazon Prime, available to rent almost anywhere.
A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.
This movie sadly bombed at the box office, but is in my opinion a near-perfect fantasy adventure flick that strikes a really good balance of narrative and comedy, and respects the source material without making it a prerequisite for enjoyment. I’d put it up there with “The Princess Bride” and I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets a similar cult appreciation in the future.

Never had someone point a gun at me like that, but I dated a girl in college that had a dickhead 2nd amendment gun nut dad who never missed an opportunity to mention he had guns and wasn’t afraid to use them if I “didn’t take good care of his daughter.” It didn’t intimidate me in the slightest though, and just let me know he was a scared, insecure loser.

I used to make fun of vegans too, now I am one. Othering a group of people might seem like fun, but just make sure you try not to think too hard about their position. I think you’ll be ok though.

It’s believed to have been a part of black American slang for decades, possibly from the term “high-capping” which essentially means bragging. Rapper E-40 used the term in his 1995 song “Da Bumble”.
