  I got a call last week from a car dealership asking for Linda, again, and I said “I get calls for Linda all the time,” and that my caller ID comes up as “Linda,” and that now, when I call my dad he shouts “YO LINDA” as a greeting. And the dealership rep told me that Linda is a sweet old lady who is hoping to get a car soon. I asked the rep if she would say hi to Linda for me and she said for sure she would.

  It’s just that much easier for developers to raze all plants to the ground before grading and running other heavy equipment. These are new construction and so those developers aren’t accountable to anyone, and I’m sure the local jurisdiction doesn’t care. That’s not a justification, for what it’s worth, just an explanation.

  What I’ve never been sure of is why people don’t eventually realize how much nicer everything would be if they just replanted trees (or left them in the first place) but they seem to be used to suburban hell. If you drive everywhere it’s less of an issue that your environment is shit.

  I can keep track of the clip for about 1/3 of the bread loaf… until the twist is long enough to tuck easily. Then, sometimes I’m even too put-upon to twist and I simply wrap and tuck.

  Speaking of indie, have you tried some of the newer Justin Vernon singles? Prob not exactly what you’re looking for, but heavily influenced by gospel, particularly AUATC and PDLIF. I mean, he seems to be a god guy, but it’s subtle.

  As for call and response, I’m a sucker for sea shanties. Singing them in groups is the best (everyone sings the “response”), but there are some good recordings too. Try the Longest Johns for some well-produced recordings. It’s a slippery slope to traditional music though… You’ve been warned.

  Drink it earlier in the day, not all after dinner. I drink a full glass of water when my alarm goes off in the morning, and keep a bottle with me almost always. Add some sliced cucumber or other flavor to convince yourself to take sips throughout the day.

  Citizenship question: my grandfather’s parents were born in Ireland. My grandfather, who didn’t know he had been adopted until much later in life (by a Jewish woman), became an Irish citizen in his 50s and had dual citizenship until his death.

  As a desperate American… can I get Irish citizenship through my grandfather, a naturalized Irish citizen who was not born in Ireland?? I can (understandably) not find an answer to this on the Irish citizenship website.

  Also realize that there are different places you might feel comfortable driving. For example, I try to avoid driving through large towns and cities as much as I can. I’d rather someone else drive. There’s just too much going on while watching for cars, traffic cues, as well as pedestrians.

  On the flip side, my brother hit another car on his very first driving lesson and never drove again! He’s happily living in a city with public transportation :-) just make sure you’re able to get around without relying on others.
