That bit about tampons isn’t true at all, and has nothing to do with virginity. Nothing fundamentally changed about your body when you had sex. You were just using tampons badly.

I have never been scared of snakes. They aren’t spooky, they don’t turn my stomach. The phobia has never made sense to me.
But I think if I saw that thing slither by while diving I would get it. Huh.

Weren’t science communicators talking about parts of speech in whale communication last year, too? They’re using AI to identify patterns and variations in speech.
Here’s a general (though older) overview of whale language: www.britannica.com/…/the-language-of-whales
Here’s a more recent article taking about using AI to identify patterns in speech: scitechdaily.com/ai-decodes-sperm-whale-language-…
- Comment on What are some things you can do to maintain your teeth when you don't have health insurance amd can't afford dental care? 1 month ago:
Sorry, but it just gets more expensive to care for them later. Aim for at least a yearly cleaning/exam so that they can catch issues before they become serious. Twice a year is better.
And find a dentist that is conservative about fillings. My dentist almost never recommends procedures unless there is actual decay, and I trust them to not push work on me that I don’t need.

Like, the people who work to redo the high-end kitchens every couple of years, maintain the gardens, nanny the kids, and clean the toilets. Those normal people.
- Comment on I genuinely feel like I wouldn't live that differently even if I suddenly became ultra-wealthy. Am I kidding myself? 2 months ago:
Dunno bud, I’ve met and heard about a lot of rich people in my life (my partner builds high-end houses), and they’ve all been absolute assholes, though some more overly than others. I know exactly 2 nice rich people out of dozens.
My theory is two-fold: one, to get rich you probably screwed somebody else over, and two, once you get rich you feel an inherent need to protect your resources without ever actually feeling satisfied (gated communities, voting for your own self-interest, suspicion towards normal people).
I do think that having large sums of money almost always lead toward personal corruption, and I wish we all just had enough resources and societal support to be healthy and happy.

- Comment on I ordered my daughter a pizza, something I don't usually do. I got Domino's smallest size with two toppings. I got her cheese sticks and two sauces and tipped the driver 20%. $31.07. 2 months ago:
I hear you, but OP already said he didn’t use the internet to make the purchase. Honestly, even as a millennial I order out so infrequently that I probably wouldn’t use their site either. Yes, the economic system that has created this reality is the main issue, but that doesn’t mean it’s incorrect to be frustrated at Dominos.

- Comment on Do 9-5 jobs still exist in the U.S.? 3 months ago:
I’m interviewing for a job that has a similar set-up: 8:30 - 5:30 with a required 1 hr lunch break. Any idea why that lunch is required?
The hours are a red flag to me, but I’ve been a teacher for the last 6 years so I’m not sure exactly what I’m getting into. I have a 2nd interview coming up, but I can’t get a read on whether they’re trying to make sure I’m taking the job seriously, or if I’m headed into an abusive work situation. Any ideas?
