The thing is I like talking to strangers more than to people I know.

As a polish person: What the fuck.
We use palec for both fingers and toes.
- Comment on 1 week ago:
By that logic, it should be both green and red, because it looks like “lábujj” is both a word, and like you said it means “footfinger”.
- Comment on 1 week ago:
I have a theory: If you need 3 or 4 words in some language to specify “Fingers of the feet”, they will make their own word for it, because it is troublesome. In Polish it’s just “palce u nóg”.

- Comment on Why isint lemmy more popular? 3 weeks ago:

Because people still use Reddit for some reason.
-
Because it is fragmented and hard to understand how it works for average person.

I mean… it’s definitely possible, I have seen a person naming every subdivision of the world, which is a bit less than the amount of exoplanets we know (~4000 vs. ~6000), but only by 2000, so eventually some person will just do that.

Why not create open-source online “scientific jorunal” with service provided by donations then? Am I missing something?

I am probably 1/2, but creating images in my mind is not something I do on a daily basis, which is probably why I lack creativity in certain areas. Also I had hard time remembering faces for most of my life, and only recently it get slightly better.

Haha, there are other language versions links at the bottom. I just started learning Czech at university, and I think I will send my group link some time, because it’s pretty funny.

- Comment on Fear not, and enjoy this mere interlude to its fullest! 2 months ago:
But why call it void if there’s no void at all? Or nothingness. There’s only void and nothingness when universe ends (if that theory is true of course). People still think about it as a state of our consciousness, when there is no really any ‘state’ after we die. It’s like
NULLvsUNDEFINEDin programming, or at least I see this that way. - Comment on Fear not, and enjoy this mere interlude to its fullest! 2 months ago:
How exactly? I don’t see it.
- Comment on Fear not, and enjoy this mere interlude to its fullest! 2 months ago:
Nothingless void is as believable as afterlife. From scientific point of view neither make sense, it’s like we’re giving ourseleves some metaphysical distinctiveness from the rest of universe but are merely physical bodies according to our scientific knowledge. And according to that we precisely know what’s after death: we rot in grave, and that’s sit. But that answer is not satisfying for us, because of our consciousness.

That’s why I like Wolfenstein and Doom games. You only kill bad guys there, and it is expected that you should have no mercy for them.
- Comment on Can't argue that. 3 months ago:
I don’t really play competitive video games, because I have always seen them as waste of time, and I easily get angry, but recently I nearly did get all retroachievements for NES Terris, so I guess my reflexes are not horrible yet.

I am 29, and so far I didn’t really see any mental decline, sometimes even the reverse - I become better at learning certain stuff. Although I am also more aware that I will never be on the level some very talented people are, but it’s fine.

One time I was drunk enough that I’d do that if I saw a incoming tram.
That said, after many self harm actions, depressive thoughts and other stupid shit I’ve done while drunk, I decided to not drink more than 2 beer in a single day, lol.
- Comment on Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, a JRPG, just got released on Steam—and this is a big deal because this game is to PC what Final Fantasy VII was to PlayStation. 3 months ago:
Isn’t one of the more modern Dragon Quest games on PC as well? These series are top-notch and have nice graphics as well.
- Comment on Nintendo reportedly gets even more obnoxious about patent law by taking a 'mods aren't real games' stance against a Dark Souls 3 mod that could invalidate its Palworld lawsuit 3 months ago:
It depends how mod is made. If it depends on a base content of a game, it’s generally a mod for that game. That’s what Counter-Strike and DOTA for example was at first (they required Half-Life, and Warcraft 3 base files respectively).
If you make a game for a specific engine, it’s generally considered as a standalone game, not a mod. Also in olden days code for the engine and the game wasn’t separated so you couldn’t easily reuse the game engine. AFAIK Id Software was one of the first companies that made reusable game engines that were also licensed to other companies, and even made map editor available for free.
