- Comment on Happier to use spices on tofu, beans, soy curls, and even sometimes the dreaded processed plant-based mock-meats (when they go on sale). 1 day ago:
It didn’t occur to me until now that all spices are plant-derived (except salt, if you consider that to be a spice). I wonder if there are other planets out there where there are spices produced from animals.

It’s the rocks that make them crunchy.
- Comment on Just to get this straight. If I stand outside a voting center and give each person 500 bucks to vote for me. That is illegal? But if I am a Dipshit In Chief and offer 5k that is 100 percent legal? 1 day ago:
No, it’s not legal, but at this point there are no federal officials left who are willing to enforce the law when Republicans break it.

I agree that separating automobiles from cyclists is far more important for safety. I really like protected bike lanes for that reason. The barrier occupies a little space, but I think it’s a win both for drivers and cyclists.
I’ve also seen photos of some interesting bike lanes that were elevated above the road, but also below the sidewalk level (between the two).

- Comment on The System does not work. 4 weeks ago:
Construction was and is very regulated in California. Part of what California has been doing is to reduce those regulations to encourage home construction. For example, construction no longer needs to go through an environmental review process if it’s being built on land that already has structures on it. There is a balance when it comes to regulation.
- Comment on The System does not work. 4 weeks ago:
There is no “system” causing high housing prices. In fact, high housing prices are due to the lack of a system: It’s bunch of homeowners each acting in their personal interest by impeding housing construction in order to increase the values of their own properties. That’s why California introduced a system in which all cities must build housing proportionally, or else their local zoning restrictions are nullified and builders can build whatever they want.

Doesn’t ticketmaster now allow you to re-list the tickets for sale within the Ticketmaster app? It would be a smart move, because they get a cut of the sale without taking the risk of the tickets not selling at high prices.

Striving to maximize profit is what companies do. Blaming them is not useful. Instead, advocate for and promote government policies that would disincentivize fossil fuel use, like carbon taxes.
- Comment on Former Valve writer says PlayStation killing physical discs is no conspiracy: "You, the consumer, have made your choice, and the choice is for digital" 1 month ago:
Physical media is no more expensive or inconvenient than it ever was. It’s just that you’re now comparing it to downloads, which bear no manufacturing cost and don’t require you to physically go to a store or have the media shipped to you.
