- Comment on The End of Ownership. Sony’s announcement has fans worried they might never truly own their beloved games. 14 minutes ago:
Well yeah, pretty much no one cares. I hate this move by Sony mostly because used physical games are so cheap, even cheaper than steam sales. I already used to resell games I stopped playing to get some of my money back.
But just look at PC gaming. It’s been digitized for almost 20 years and no one stopped gaming on PC. So of course the console companies saw that and decided to do the same.
The outrage feels a bit hypocritical considering how many PC gamers constantly defend valve. It isn’t quite the same situation but valve is still responsible for killing physical PC games. Gamers literally helped them do it out of sheer convenience.
Of course valve did strong arm us, especially in the beginning with HL2. The controversy over HL2 ended being nothing more than a fart in the wind and people barely remember it now.

Oh I know, the gunplay in destiny really was incredible. And the music and atmosphere was top notch, even though the scope and story didn’t live up to prelaunch hype.
It was hard to walk away but I couldn’t justify overpaying for dlc that should’ve been $10, maybe $15 at most.
- Comment on End of an era? 1 week ago:
Destiny got what it deserved. I can’t believe it lasted as long as it did. I noped after they started charging $40 for a couple maps and a raid labeled as “expansions”. And that was destiny 1. The game was an unbelievable ripoff.
- Comment on 2 weeks ago:
Finally, a kindred soul. Valve is the worst thing to happen to PC gaming in decades.
It annoys me how people whine about exclusives on epic when valve were the ones who forced steam down our throats in the first place with HL2. We literally have them to thank for this.
- Comment on 2 weeks ago:
The disc is still an issue for me even with the licensing issue. I like to resell and gift my console games and you can’t do that without a disc.
It’s one of the things that makes me sad about PC gaming. Steam killed physical PC games and it kind of sucks.
- Comment on 2 weeks ago:
There are already games with dedicated install discs like that.

$750 according to who? Valve? The most honest and knightly and chivalrous of all tech companies? They wouldn’t lie or mislead, would they?
- Comment on 2 weeks ago:
PS5s are not sold at a loss. They’re sold at cost. Sony stopped selling at a loss this gen.
Greedy Gabe would never even consider such a thing even though valve would still easily come out ahead from the steam sales alone.
- Comment on 2 weeks ago:
It’s funny how you say this as if valve doesn’t make money on steam sales. The legal gymnastics on display in this thread are definitely something. Song doesn’t even sell their consoles at a loss anymore.
- Comment on 2 weeks ago:
The PS5 is about to be a last gen console. I would absolutely not buy a new PC without 32GB of RAM. But gamers have to defend literally everything gabe does no matter what.
- Comment on 2 weeks ago:
A 6600XT is overkill now? It’s this just valve fanboy copium or something? It’s 5 year old mid tier card

How are PS and and Switch an agent against a monopoly on PC game sales? This is quite a reach
- Comment on Dutch gamers file €220 million claim against Valve, operator of game platform Steam 4 weeks ago:
Steam is absolutely a monopoly. It’s as clear as day you just don’t want to admit it.
Even at its height, Standard Oil never controlled 100% of the market.
- Comment on Dutch gamers file €220 million claim against Valve, operator of game platform Steam 4 weeks ago:
Good lord valve fanboys are insufferable. Of any other company controlled 80%-90% of sales in one sector if the economy you wouldn’t hesitate to call what it is, a monopoly.
As if you aren’t aware that tons of AAA only launch on steam.

Pure copium
- Comment on PlayStation boss says single-player games won’t come to PC going forward | VGC 1 month ago:
Nonsense. Consoles were deliberately designed to be mutually incompatible. All the tantrum throwing in this thread is just people crying about Sony going back to the status quo of the 90s and 2000s. It isn’t that big of a deal.

What all 4 emulated ps4 games? PS6 won’t be emulated for like 10 years
- Comment on PlayStation boss says single-player games won’t come to PC going forward | VGC 1 month ago:
PC gamers were not making them that much money. They don’t care about us. The sales numbers Sony games on PC were abysmal.
Fine by me. Sony does make good games and I can afford a console, so I won’t mind buying one. Most of this thread is just copium.
- Comment on PlayStation boss says single-player games won’t come to PC going forward | VGC 1 month ago:
You guys said the same thing about the switch 2 and it sold extremely well.
The world doesn’t revolve around PC games.
- Comment on PlayStation boss says single-player games won’t come to PC going forward | VGC 1 month ago:
Lol they will not. The next Xbox is literally going to be a PC with a full Windows OS. Sony is not going to become Xbox and give people no reason to stay in their ecosystem.
They also sold 98 million ps5s. All the delulus in this thread acting like their money matters when it doesn’t. Most of the Sony games sold poorly on steam.
People will 100% buy the ps6. I’m not missing out on more horizon, gow, or tlou.
Hardcore PC players on Reddit/Lemmy just keep proving they’re completely detached from normie reality.

How is it “realism” when all we have to go on is an intentionally vague post?
OP needs to go find a reliable journalist. If they have nothing then said journalist will have a laugh. and if OP is stupid about it they’ll also be going to prison.
OP needs practical advice if they’re serious about this.

This doesn’t answer OP’s question, it’s just pure condescension. If he has nothing then let the journalists figure that out on their own and then OP can deal with the consequences.

Lmao. More like 60% of people know that replacing sticks with trackpads was an awful idea. Valve tried too hard and failed, and they know they failed by the looks of it
- Comment on Valve Uploads Steam Controller Unboxing Video, Launch Imminent 2 months ago:
Yeah I don’t get why people praise the trackpads on it so much. Trackpads are such ass and always have been. Some people will just praise valve no matter what they do.
- Comment on Valve Uploads Steam Controller Unboxing Video, Launch Imminent 2 months ago:
I despise trackpads so I never bought a steam controller. But steam input is money. It made some of my old PC favorites like Thief playable with a controller.

- Comment on Why is Valve being sued for almost $900 million, but Epic Games wasn't sued when they bought Rocket League and Fall Guys to remove them from steam? 5 months ago:
For real? I don’t know how any of this works from the restaurant side. I thought they had to “join” GrubHub, that’s not the case?

Why would a restaurant allow delivery services if it causes them to lose money?

If the rare earth hypothesis is true, which I personally think it is because of how many coincidences it took to make Earth habitable, then I do think they would be interested.
I mean we’d be very interested if we found another Earth-like planet with a civilization on it, so why wouldn’t aliens? Presumably any species capable of that discovery would at least have a need to pursue new knowledge, otherwise they would not be able to advance scientifically.
It’s not about humans being special at all, rather the opposite. Intelligent life is likely to share at least some things in common with us. For example it’s possible that they’re also violent assholes like we are, and destroyed their own planet, so now they a need one and we fit the bill.
If the rare earth hypothesis is false, then things simultaneously become more and less interesting. More interesting in that there’s suddenly a whole galaxy of life-rich planets to explore, less interesting in that there would be nothing rare about an Earth-like planet and aliens may be less interested in us.
But even then, I feel that someone’s going to be interested. We have millions of species on this planet and that doesn’t stop people from looking for new species.
