There’s a difference between a quality indie game and shovelware.

If steam were doing a “really good job,” none of the garbage would be on the store in the first place.

I work for one of the companies you mentioned and we are absolutely not hiring devs.
- Comment on I could quit AI anytime I want to 5 days ago:
I’m required to use it for generating code. But that’s a small part of my job. Occasionally I’ll use it to research niche topics because it’s faster than a search but I’d be just fine without it. I spent 10+ years coding without AI. It’s just a tool, and one that’s easily misused by people with low aptitude. I see it all the time and have to leave comments and block PRs until people fix the slop it outputs.
- Comment on Why does China have so many multi billionaires if they are aiming to be a communist country? 1 week ago:
No they aren’t. Try actually reading about how their economy works. The whole thing is a scam to keep their form of state capitalism.
- Comment on Why does China have so many multi billionaires if they are aiming to be a communist country? 1 week ago:
They should’ve banned it in the Constitution then. Though given how bloodthirsty Americans turned out to be, we probably would’ve amended it anyway.
- Comment on Why do so many people regardless of whether their reasonings are justified or not pinpoint South Park for ruining a generation of millenials? 1 week ago:
Meh. That’s true now but early on South Park really encouraged the whole “apathy is cool” attitude and lots of people mimicked. I’m talking about when it was still new and mostly watched by middle and high schoolers.

Wow two who young people. So windy everyone else spoke English Ruby? Front lie to me because I’ve been there many times and I know they do.
It’s crazy how Americans get defensive about the dumbest fucking shit.
- Comment on 1 week ago:
Absolute numbers? what kind of intentionality disingenuous comparison is that? We have like 4x they’re population.
Try visiting France. Almost everyone in the major cities speaks English to a competent degree. Only like a quarter of Americans speak Spanish equivalently. I mean not even all Latin people speak Spanish in the US.

- Comment on Supergirl 2026 storyline 2 weeks ago:
I mean I agree with them. There’s nothing interesting about a character who’s invincible and can do almost anything with ease. I always found Superman painfully boring.

- Comment on Thief vs. AAA Gaming - An Essay 3 weeks ago:
You can stealth around the undead, but sure what you’re referring to there. It doesn’t make you engage in combat at any point in the game.
- Comment on Thief vs. AAA Gaming - An Essay 3 weeks ago:
There just aren’t that many first person stealth games, and none of them topped thief. There was dishonored but it wasn’t a pure stealth game.
- Comment on Thief vs. AAA Gaming - An Essay 3 weeks ago:
Thief 2 is still my favorite game of all time. There’s nothing else like it.
Nothing else gives the same satisfaction of planning out a route for a bank heist or infiltrating Soulforge and then pulling it off without getting detected.
Throw in the total immersion from the haunting ambient music and lore that you discover by reading notes and eavesdropping and nothing else has come close. Not even dishonored, which I also enjoyed. Thief is the most immersive I’ve game I’ve ever played.

It pisses me off how easy it is for these fucks to get away with it. All of the women I’ve been close to have stories about being assaulted, stalked or harassed, or all three. These men are a plague on society and should be locked away for a lot fucking longer than they are.

These guys just want to whine and complain and reminisce about how much better the old days were.

What was was so great about web design in 2012? It was barely any different back then except for being much worse on phones. And the main reason for your complaints is the need to accommodate phones.
I feel like I’m sharing this website with a bunch of crotchety old men who just want to complain

So what? I hate AI but blowing a gasket over using it for translations just makes you sound like a witch hunter. Like this is supposed to ruin all the hard work this person clearly put into their game? Yeah right

- Comment on 4 weeks ago:
Yes it’s still better than the vast majority of open world RPGs, even the new ones. It doesn’t feel like an old game.
It’s not perfect and the combat is mid, but the story and characters hold up as well as they ever did. Really good writing and voice acting. And the graphics were revamped a few years ago. It looks amazing with RT if your machine can take the performance hit.
- Comment on 4 weeks ago:
They already did that for free.
- Comment on 4 weeks ago:
How is a new story dlc even remotely close to oblivion remastered? It’s not a revamp of the same game, it’s brand new content for it. And considering they said it’s on the same scale as Blood & Wine, it should be almost a full game’s worth of content (pending reviews of course).
- Comment on 4 weeks ago:
The new devs already released a new quest for W3 and it was solid. I’ll wait for reviews but yeah I’m looking forward to it.
I didn’t need an apology from cdpr. I just needed then to fix cyberpunk, and they did. It’s a great game in its current state. But I won’t be buying their games on release until I’m confident they’re playable and worth the money.

- Comment on Fallout 5 officially in pre-production, being built on Elder Scrolls VI engine 4 weeks ago:
Fallout 3 was pretty good. New Vegas was solid.
And let’s not be disingenuous, the backstories for both were not taken to the level of 4 and we all know it.
- Comment on Fallout 5 officially in pre-production, being built on Elder Scrolls VI engine 4 weeks ago:
I said it was mid not that it was bad, and I didn’t assert as it was an objective fact. It’s just my opinion.
I had some fun with the usual fallout gameplay but the dialogue and story were the typical Bethesda oversanitized stuff, which I find very boring now. The settlement mechanic was annoying. The backstory killed a lot of the immersion for me especially because it was predictable and kind of cheesy.
There’s no need to get defensive, not everyone is going to like games that you like.

I thought fallout 4 was pretty mid, which killed any hype I might’ve had for 5. Did not like having a backstory forced on my character.
