Yeah, its their online-only bank.
I have no idea why some banks can offer those CD-like rates while others offer virtually zero. Capital One 360 Savings and Ally have similar rates as well.

One that earns you more than the default 0.15% or so that you earn on most savings accounts.
You have to do a bit of hunting, but for example, I have an account with Citizens Access that earns 3.50% last time I checked. It’s not much, but it’s better than earning nothing on the emergency fund that I want to keep liquid and accessible.

Easy peasy. Instead of making payments to your credit card, transfer the amount to a high yield savings account instead. Then use that savings account to pay your CC once per month. (Savings accounts typically have a limit on debits, but you can usually make as many deposits as you want.)
Enjoy the cashback AND a few bucks in interest AND having your checking account accurately reflect your “real” money at all times.

If I was playing The Sims, and one of my Sims started showing up mistakeable signs of self awareness, I would panic and ctrl-alt-delete that shit so fast.
Maybe its better if we DMT-and-lasers our way into a plan before we start banging on the glass.

That’s why I specifically called out the phrase “free speech absolutist”.
In my experience the vast majority of people who truly do advocate for freedom of speech are willing/able to understand nuances such as the fact that your freedom of speech does not grant you immunity from the social consequences of unpopular speech. I.e., other people exercising their freedom to disagree or opt not to use their private platform to host your speech. The “absolutists” will unironically call that censorship, rather than recognize other people are not compelled to engage with their speech.
- Comment on Elon Musk is trying to silence Microsoft employees who criticize Charlie Kirk 1 week ago:
Without exception, “free speech absolutists” just want to say a specific brand of horrid shit themselves without social blowback. It never applies to free speech as a legal concept, and certainly never applies to speech they disagree with.

Sure, I totally agree that when you’re dealing many with orders of magnitude, the factor of 3 is dwarved by the other uncertainties.
But we’re talking about our solar system, and specifically the orbital mechanics of our planets and sun, where the quantities and scales only span a couple orders of magnitude in total. A factor of 3 absolutely makes a difference. That’s the difference between the orbit of Mercury and the orbit of Earth.
Then there’s the practical point that, regardless of scale, rounding a known constant by that much makes no sense at all, unless you’re trying to estimate huge numbers in your head. If you’re using even the simplest of calculator, estimating pi as 1 is a deliberate choice to reduce accuracy.
- Comment on Say hello to Bary 2 weeks ago:
Nah, there is no way any astronomer studying orbital mechanics in our solar system is rounding pi to 1. There is virtually no practical calculation you could do on the mechanics of the sun or planets where rounding a known constant by a factor of 3 would yield any useful result whatsoever.
Rounding pi to 1 only makes sense when the uncertainty in the numbers is large, not the magnitude of the numbers, and we know the masses and distances of the objects in our solar system to an amazing level of precision!
Plus, the fact that Jupiter is massive enough to actually exert an influence that large on the sun is pretty fucking cool!

I mean, the outside looks pretty close to what I’d expect for unsauced meatloaf–there are clearly some darker brown areas. I do personally like to bake them at a bit higher temp to get some of those browned bits, but for a larger meatball, you may need to stay a little cooler to let it cook evenly without nuking the outside.
- Comment on Anon eats Italian 2 weeks ago:
Whenever I’ve made homemade meatballs, we just bake them in the oven to cook, then either add to the sauce or serve separately.
I guess you’d just cook this monster like a lil meatloaf.

Like a lot of people have already said, people are complicated and contradictory; they are rarely one thing.
So you can judge him for, and learn from, the way he has treated other people, while also being grateful for the love, respect, and good parenting he has shown you.
Another aspect is that people often make mistakes and grow from those experiences. It might help you resolve some of the dissonance to talk to him about those things. Many people have experienced that having kids radically changes their priorities. Some people are fiercely loyal to a few people, but couldn’t care less about everyone else.
