Most dogs have servile idiot personalities. This makes me suspicious of anyone who says they are a “dog person”. It’s not a great accomplishment to be loved by a creature literally bred to love their master unconditionally.
All the cartoon companies be like...

So if someone says they’re a cat person then it must be a really great accomplishment lmao

I have two cats. When I let them outside, both come when they’re called. One play fetch. The other one keeps me on schedule.
I consider getting my cats to do this stuff that every dog owner simply expects of their dog to be one of my greatest achievements in life. Doubly so since the one who plays fetch is a former feral.

At the same time:
“We want the robot to be the scariest thing possible, that the protagonist will never adapt to.”
“Yeah! Dog shaped but no dog personality!”
I think we have something with dogs…

I mean “friend-shaped but we without friend personalty” is inherently terrifying whether its dogs or people.
But you do have a point that scary robot animals tend to be dogs, not cats.
