Your experience made me remember “Tom”, the farmers-cat living in the corn silo on the farm of my great aunt. He hated children but tolerated the adults working there. And he was working there. He killed multiple mice a day (depending on season as it seems), ate only the livers, ad used crippled mice to find the others. Tom was sick man.

Well yes,… but no, you can face significant financial burdens if someone in your family needs living assistance, such as a parent, and the state steps in to cover the costs. The law allows the state to require adult children to contribute to these expenses to a certain degree, but only after all assets of the elder or disabled person have been exhausted (“bankrupting” said person so to speak).
While this is not the same as bankrupting an entire family for life, it can indeed become a heavy financial strain if the parents were not adequately insured or financially prepared for such situations. The obligatio, however, is subject to strict thresholds and limits, such as exemptions for children earning below €100,000 annually, ensuring hardship is avoided.

I experimented with rules like : “Summarize everything of our discussion into one text you can use as memory below your answer.” And “summarize and remove unnecessary info from this text, if contradictions occur act curious to solve them”… simply to mimic a short term memory.
It kind of worked better for problem solving but it ate tokens like crazy and the answers took longer and longer. The current GPT4 models seem to do something similar in the background.

I would guess that every statement made is kind of true. It is a clock, a computer and a LLM,…
I would even go as far as LLM is the closest to a functioning brain we can produce. And we don’t understand in detail what it does. Which is ironic.

I really enjoyed the text.
From the perspective of a python programmer it all seems valid.
A Java-Dev would probably write the same about an embedded engineer.

Even if you follow the rules strictly, confirmation bias can kick in… which is basically “always” because you have to start somewhere and will think a certain way.
Based on that argument, why bother? /s
