- Comment on Min wage in most states is so sad 23 hours ago:
There are easy solutions to that problem. $60k plus cost of living stipends for the two homes, which can’t be spent on anything else, and only modest homes are eligible.
- Comment on Minimum wage isn't survivable anymore 3 days ago:
Lots of places, minimum wage won’t even take you that far. Big city or nearby suburb? Forget it.
- Comment on Dwarf Fortress' creator says the industry's in shambles over AI and layoff-happy CEOs: 'Everyone I know, their bosses are slowly getting psychosis' 1 week ago:
You can create systems that generate content without resorting to mass plagiarism.
I’m working on a game that will have 10 million unique levels… due entirely to assets I’ve created that interact with each other in a variety of ways. I would never taint that with a system that not only plagiarizes but destroys the Earth to do so.

Why did you put an apostrophe in a non-possessive plural noun?

Oh! The hamster mom. Not your mom.
Ok, that’s a bit less horrifying.

Wishing someone good luck is a show of empathy, not a lack thereof.
- Comment on Killing ownership is the method, killing the secondary market is the objective. 2 months ago:
I was not making either of those points. My first sentence was my point. My second sentence was a general statement implied to be a suggestion.
But I see from the votes that lemmy is full of people who prefer to throw money away.

So, like, don’t buy things that aren’t worth the cost, man.
Library memberships are free.

I know someone who LOVES both of those things but would never try this combo
- Comment on Turrón! 2 months ago:
It sure doesn’t. When people pronounce it like that, they’re imitating a segment from a kids’ show (forget whether it was Dexter’s Lab or Jimmy Neutron)
- Comment on Why are sites like Reddit so prone to downvoting people for self-expression or vulnerability? 2 months ago:
Maybe the artwork got downvoted because people thought it wasn’t good, or wasn’t appropriate for the sub
Maybe the comment where you mentioned you’re trans got downvoted if it was seen as not adding to the conversation at hand

Respect?
- Comment on The best answer to "when did Star Trek get woke?" 2 months ago:
In that case the issue is hamfisted storytelling, not progressive ideas. So calling it “woke” is pointing the wrong direction.
- Comment on What is a game that you know is bad but really enjoy(ed)? 2 months ago:
It’s a good game, but bad in terms of reception, which is what this thread is about

- Comment on Is it weird that I cringe whenever someone calls my name and I avoid using peoples names when talking to them? 3 months ago:
I use names when specificity is needed. E.g., if I’m in a room with two other people, and I want to address only one of them, I’ll use a name (or nickname if there is one) to clarify who I am addressing.
If I’m in a room with only one other person, then using a name to address them would be redundant, unless I am not getting their attention otherwise (e.g., they’re engrossed in a book).

- Comment on How do I drink more water? 4 months ago:
Cool (not cold), with no ice. Filtered.
Eat savory snacks.
Keep the water in an open-top container so you can gulp rather than being limited by a straw.
- Comment on why does almost nobody live here? 4 months ago:
New York has a greater number of points of interest than the Oregon coast.
Oregon coast is beautiful, don’t get me wrong. Great place to vacation. Not terribly exciting place to live, though.
- Comment on why does almost nobody live here? 4 months ago:
Go live there yourself.
Oh, you don’t want to? Why not?
There, you have your reason now.

- Comment on Has the scientific community ever reconciled with the fact global warming is going to happen and there is no stopping it? 5 months ago:
Is going to? It’s already happening. We’ve seen increased heat stroke deaths. We’ve seen animal populations get displaced.

They need to accept the rapture has already happened. All the good religious people have already ascended. This is why all of the religious people who are still here suck.
