Joining the military helped them get a job.
That was a choice because they sure weren’t drafted. Seems like you didn’t do that and now you’re bitching about how life actually works.C’est la vie.
- Comment on How was trying to get a job different THEN vs NOW 1 week ago:
That’s life. I’ll always give a prior service person a bit more grace - at least at some point they volunteered to serve.

They always talk about how giving coverage leads to copycats. Typically that has meant me getting pissed at the overvcoverage of mass shootings, but now I’m sitting here waiting like… Okay? Any day now? Maybe not.

I have zero sympathy for these folks - their genetic problems are wholly self induced and they are a literal cancer on this species.
Fuck 'em.
- Comment on Anon meets a girl at a wedding 1 week ago:
Oh man we did the Hapsburgs in my genetics class and it’s so fucking gross how closely related those incestuous fucks were.

Renting a gaming PC seems dumb as fuck.

That’s a huge bummer - didn’t realize the numbers were that high.
Having a PC in my house in the 90s with games led me to learn about computers… to play better games. Which has absolutely contributed to my having a successful career.
Glad I’m putting together a Linux box for my oldest to wreck/play with!

Definitely describes my early Team Fortress Classic/TF2 time back in college. I’m actually still steam friends with folks from that time and I definitely still rock my “clan tag”! Sort of lame if kids don’t have a chance at the same thing…
- Comment on Is it possible to install my own OS on a "smart" TV? Is that a thing? 5 weeks ago:
HD audio pass through ended up being reason I went with the shield pro. But it’s not “cheap” at ~$200 per unit. I still think that’s cheaper than a dedicated mini PC or something though (was really the only other option).

Nvidia shields with an alternate home screen have been a good solution for me? TV isn’t connected to the network directly, just to the shield.

Jesus Fucking Christ, can they please just let Jurassic Park die?
I loved the original but this new shit… No gracias.

- Comment on Is "Red Storm Rising" by Tom Clancy considered a good book? 5 weeks ago:
Don’t get me wrong I loved the as a kid and it was a nice way to transition to “adult” books but not really my speed anymore.
- Comment on Is "Red Storm Rising" by Tom Clancy considered a good book? 5 weeks ago:
I think I remember liking Rainbow Six around the same time and I liked his books until he started tag teaming with other authors which was probably around 2000?
Based on that I imagine his books from 1986-2000 are “similar” enough.
- Comment on Anons discuss PC vs console gaming 5 weeks ago:
But it usually doesn’t get over 70C in game, so I’m not going to mess with it.
So not an Intel build then?
I’m just salty as fuck that my last build randomly temp spikes for no goddamn reason that I can discern (and I just so happen to have one of the newer chips folks are complaining about).
- Comment on Is "Red Storm Rising" by Tom Clancy considered a good book? 5 weeks ago:
I recall liking it, but I read it in like the 5th grade so my standards were low (before that I’d been reading my mom’s terrible ‘caterer turned detective’ novels).
I enjoyed Clancy for a long time after that but at this point I aim more towards militaristic speculative fiction.

Starfield was boring as hell and now they’re too scared to try ES6 (because it’ll be garbage).
