Look any change, no matter how you feel about it, is going to make someone upset
- Comment on Steam is basically a PC gaming monopoly, so why isn’t anyone mad? 4 hours ago:
It seems a lot of those content type are regarding promotion on the steam store, so it means their games won’t get featured on the front page (essentially steam advertising their game) if they are undercutting the sale of the content. On some it seems to be about in game purchases/DLCs, which also could be a problem if someone could buy those outside the system for far lower price and still use the version launched from steam (particularly if it’s a free to play title)
- Comment on Steam is basically a PC gaming monopoly, so why isn’t anyone mad? 5 hours ago:
Not if they want to sell on steam, if they want steam to issue steam keys for purchases made outside of steam. Yes they literally let you use all the steam infrastructure for sales that they don’t get to take a cut out of, with the requirement being you cannot undercut them for those sales.
If you want to sell for cheaper outside of steam you can, you just no longer can ask steam to issue extra keys beyond those sold on steam store.
- Comment on Post title lol 2 days ago:
your LLM misunderstood the request, it is going to replace the entire sentence into the TIE fighter if it contains the “lol”, not just the part where it is “lol”. Also the “blow up” is not explosion, it thought it means “making it big”

but that’s a very consensual action, they literally have to ask you for those information not just start harvesting in the background

Then they would just simply stop giving out free steam keys for off platform purchases. Depends on how many people buy from publisher site because they get to keep their games in a single library, it might end up with the game publishers getting less revenue overall.
- Comment on Solar is winning the energy race - The world’s cheapest power source is scaling at warp speed, pushing coal, gas and nuclear aside 2 weeks ago:
you might be confusing some units, that is also total energy used by nation divided by population, not a household energy usage. If you are using 12kW constantly, you would be using 8640kwh/month, which is way more than 400x of that 20kwh/month figure.

Probably, the $3/kwh is definitely not the price you get for a house.

hell yeah, rentals should be made prohibitively expensive to keep empty, if the city don’t have the demand to rent it? Then you should sell it at a price people will buy in a short enough time.

- Comment on Word. 3 months ago:
export is typically better as it preserve selectable text, if you print as pdf it will be as flat as a real paper
- Comment on Word. 3 months ago:
PDF is not meant to be edited, it’s meant to be a digital representation of physical paper.
The other problems are just people who don’t actually learn to use Microsoft Word, you certainly can add more words to spellcheck and you can change how images and text interact, the only thing I can think of that caused issues is at one point they changed the default, too many people never learned how to change the layout and keep expecting the old behavior after the change.

- Comment on 'This is definitely my last TwitchCon': High-profile streamer Emiru was assaulted at the event, even as streamers have been sounding the alarm about stalkers and harassment 5 months ago:
Also twitch has been paying out less and less to creators that a lot of streamers’ revenue stream is outside of that platform, be it individual donation sites that twitch gets no cut of, or merch sales from a storefront of the streamers’ own choosing. So it definitely has been way more decentralized than it was.

Having both definition of the same word that can be confused with each other is also silly, the culinary definition should find a new word.
