Even if trump doesn’t do everything in project 2025, the supreme court picks mean we’re basically ultra fucked. Like, that’s best case.
- Comment on Did Trump vote? Could he have? 1 week ago:
Which doesn’t matter anyway because he hasn’t been sentenced.
- Comment on do you think lemmy will ever be popular? 1 week ago:
It’s just a completely different use case. It may or may not continue to exist on its own but it will never replace twitter because it does not have the core thing that makes twitter special among social media (the fact that it is essentially “public”). “A bunch of small communities of nerds talking about niche topics” is something you can find friggin anywhere on the internet.
- Comment on do you think lemmy will ever be popular? 1 week ago:
Honestly I find it a little weird that Lemmy is so pro-Mastodon. Like a lot of people when the twitter implosion started I went and parked a username on a few potential replacements. And like a lot of people, when I saw that mastodon was all little specific instances, I didn’t bother because the whole point of twitter is that it’s a big public thing with everybody and everything. I haven’t really seen anybody outside of Lemmy mention mastodon in months. Everyone is going to bluesky.

Looks like a projection set, so no, they’re pretty bad for games.

I know baseball does this in the US. Dunno about football.

- Comment on If I threaten a politician to kill them like Trump did to Liz Cheney could I be arrested? If so how come Trump hasn't been arrested for it? 2 weeks ago:
Look guys, the law is not code. It is not if(strcmp(speech, “kill”) then return guilty();. There’s this whole concept of mens rea which means a required element of the crime is whether or not he meant it as a threat to her, which you will note requires human judgement (by a jury!) to evaluate. It is highly unlikely that anyone would take this rhetoric, violent and gross as it may be, as a plausible threat against Liz Cheney by Trump.
- Comment on What is the argument for making poor/working class folks shoulder the burden of taxes? 2 weeks ago:
This really demonstrates what I dislike about Lemmy. Too many people who want to inject their political beliefs into every conversation. Supply side economics is a thing. Whether it works or not is highly subject to debate but it is an entire school of thought in economics.

Presumably because they are continually picking up new players from younger age groups while retaining many older players, but I don’t really have any interest in those games so I don’t know much about them. I’m not really seeing how this directly relates to my comment, either.
- Comment on Nostalgia and remake culture 2 weeks ago:
Or uh maybe old games are still good and it makes sense to provide an easy way for newer generations to play them? If a record label remasters a Beatles album do we get mad over that? Music doesn’t have an expiration date so why should games?
- Comment on Shapes 2 weeks ago:
Nope, I’m the right age to know music from 1999, I just don’t know who this is (maybe because they’re bad?)

Uhh who?
- Comment on have you ever been given a warning or suspension for using profane language at work? 2 weeks ago:
Work in software project management. People swear pretty regularly. The higher up in the hierarchy you go, the more they swear. If a job gave me a warning for that I might leave because they treat their employees like children.

Yeah, that’s more or less how I feel about it. It’s like they say, you can’t go home again.
- Comment on Why do some men dis other men who sit to pee? (& follow-up questions) 4 weeks ago:
I mostly sit down when I pee because my cat likes to spend quality time when I’m on the toilet and he gets upset if into in the bathroom and don’t sit down.
Remember manliness is not caring about how other people define manliness.
- Comment on Do you actually care about your friend's new baby, vacation abroad or similar life events or are you just being nice? 4 weeks ago:
Kids? Not really. But if I didn’t care about stuff in their life then I don’t think we’re really friends.

Can’t say I’ve ever read a Disney comic. I don’t think they’re anywhere close to as popular in the us as they ate in Europe.
- Comment on Is Lemmy an effective alternative to Reddit? 4 weeks ago:
The strength of many reddit communities is in the people themselves, and unless you’re really into Linux or star trek, the people aren’t really here.
