Realistically, work is going to be a thing for the foreseeable future.
I lucked into finding this book, “Discover What You Are Best At” by Linda Gale. It’s free in most libraries.
It lead me to a job that I actually liked doing. Yes, I would take random mental health days, and complain about the bosses, but most Mondays I’d get up without hating myself.

You ever think about how fucked up it is that the question most kids get asked most is “What do you want to be when you grow up”?
We all end up internalising our value to society by how we’ll strive to sell our time once we’re old enough to take part.
And yeah, it’s kinda fucked up.

I’d say a society without dreams is far more fucked up than one without them. Kids don’t think about the contribution to society of what they want to be, they simply look up to the people who do it and think “I want to be like that”.
As in,
Have you ever had a dream that, that you, um, you had, your, you— you could, you’ll do, you— you wants, you, you could do so, you— you’ll do, you could- you, you want, you want them to do you so much you could do anything?

Well this is surreal. I fucking kid you not, yesterday I was chitchatting with my psychologist and she asked me if I had to work until retirement age, what jobs would I like, and I told her I’ve already been working my ass off at W-2 jobs since the age of 14 and I’m fucking OVER it and DONE, and I just want to be Tinkerbell for the rest of my life. I’m not joking, this conversation literally happened yesterday and I think whoever made this meme was spying on me yesterday.

Is it possible to learn this power

That’s sad though, do you really want to do nothing with your life?
Like, dream job doesn’t have to be realistic, it can be something like puppy raiser or high-income freelance artist.

Dream job?
Any job that is 20 hours a week or less, pays enough to live well, and contributes something meaningful to society.
So exactly 0.002% of jobs in any capitalist shithole.

I guess I like my job every now and then but going there 5 days a week and burning through 50 hours of the week (8h + breaks and travel time) getting home exhausted and mentally drained is fucked up. Let me work 3 days a week or whatever and I would be so much happier.
My job is mostly about helping people and that is what I like doing.

I absolutely love my work.
Doing online therapy is something I can keep doing until I’m literally incapable.
I won’t want to stop, I believe, though I’ll wind down my schedule as I get older.
Its work without meaning or purpose that people really object to I believe, being bored isn’t fun for very long

I do. I find my work challenging, rewarding, and fulfilling. It provides me with the opportunity to create something larger than I would be able to individually and to have a larger effect on the world than I would have the resources for on my own.
