The good news is that there is a clear solution: Unionize and strike again.

You’re not wrong. Still, they’re going to shoot us, like they did before, but the strike will work, like it did before. It will still be worth it for our descendants. I don’t think we’re going to get to enjoy it personally. I also don’t care. We’re not really going to get anywhere good until the average person plants trees to make shade for future generations to enjoy.

To answer some potential questions, yes, I joined a union and pay dues, attend meetings, etc. Yes, I’ve protested with them. No, I haven’t striked yet, but I’m about there. I have a lot of respect for the work we do in our industry and I don’t like the idea of work stoppages. Nonetheless, ownership has made it pretty clear that any advances we make in efficiency will be distributed among themselves with no regard to our or anyone else’s quality of life.

In the 1950s, union membership in USA was almost 50%.

Today, it’s less than 10%, and most of that is police and federal employees.

Remember this every time our “labor party” talks about falling wages and other worker issues. They’ve held office for DECADES, look at the results.

The Democratic party leadership has been sold out for 70 years. They allow a few “socialist” representatives to appeal to the masses as the face of the DNC; that is bait. As the Democrats use progressive candidates, the Republican party uses the Democrats for the exact same purpose; it’s a symbiotic relationship with guaranteed billions for the “losing” party and more billions for the “winning” party cyclically.

The platform for bOtH pArTiEs is nothing more than a lip service for voters; that is never their actual objective. For example, government doesn’t get smaller when Rs are in office, and workers don’t make more money when Ds are in office. There is no winner but them. What is their actual objective? Money. Just look, they don’t bother to hide it.

Good cop/bad cop and bait and switch, every term, every party, a perfect machine that is working exactly as designed.

This should be the top comment. I’m still going to vote, for what that’s worth, but I’ll spend my time contributing to a future general strike. Historically, it’s the only thing that works. Hit 'em in the coin purse.

I’d argue that the Nixon era is more to blame by paving the way, but yeah, ultimately Reagan accomplished the most.

If there were an afterlife I’d want to enter wherever Reagan, Thatcher, and all CEOs are, and throw them into the abyss of nothingness.

And then overlay the graph of CEO:median worker pay disparity

And then overlay the graph of general wealth disparity

And then overlay the graph of the rate of mergers and acquisitions

    We can go on

That just shows that as profits grow, that corporate flow some of that to the working class so that we can en-better our lives - The chart shows that the system is working as intended

Notice those small changes in verbiage in America making them appear far less courageous and more likely you’re sabotaging the economy.

        Try it yourself.

I got to get up early tomorrow, I’m in charge of serving soup to the workers participating in the stoppage

We’re striking tomorrow, and we’re not giving in until our pay raises the same as that of the chairman.
