You have had some really good replies so far.
In the mountains realty could mean anything
- I’ve done winter camping in snow - in the mountains
- I’ve done summer camping (in snow, shit can go sideways) - in the mountains
- I’ve done subtropical camping - in the mountains
- I’ve done temperate camping - in the mountains
- I’ve done 90 mph wind camping - in the mountains
- I’ve also done some absolutely drop dead breathtaking camping in the mountains
As others have said, beperpaired for it to be colder than you expect.
Are you walking / hiking in, or car?
Enjoy it

This is one thing I don’t get for the complaints about EV’s: Drag and towing. You have the same losses in ICE, just that the ICE powerplant is so much worse ‘before’ the drive
- Comment on How do I request an inactive community on Lemmy? 4 weeks ago:
Yes it will work, there were issues a long time ago but I believe that they were all resolved
- Comment on How do people develop feelings for someone? 4 weeks ago:
My wife and I meet as a friend group some 5 years before we went out - that was almost 35 years ago… shit time flies
- Comment on What are some countries you’ve visited that shocked you with unexpected friendliness? 5 weeks ago:
I must say its 20 odd years ago that we went, I’m sure the world was a simpler place
- Comment on What are some countries you’ve visited that shocked you with unexpected friendliness? 5 weeks ago:
For me it was Russia when I spent aroubd 9 days there (in and around Moscow). The people were genuinely friendly and there we not the scammers/tourist traps like in most of Europe and Asia.
The markets were as interesting as any I’ve been to in Asia/North Africa.

that is an interesting image, it reminds me of images created with ray tracing programs like Terragen

Probably will have a lot depending on the country and how well you know the person at the other end.
I’d be happy to (and do use) some text emoji with people I know well.

When I was doing a lot of custom ROMs on xda I had some guy supply a new phone to me to further develop on - this happened twice. It’s nice when it happens but it’s not why I was building ROMs
- Comment on Has anyone tried Proton VPN? 8 months ago:
I only use proton VPN for public wifi and have had no issues with it. Can select your locations and some do support torrenting if you need that.

Nudity has never been a thing to worry about before, but in the last 6 months or so she wants her space (fair enough). This just happend the other week. Kids will make more of somethings than others. and it all depends on the timing.

- Comment on I was explaining to my daughter about the differences between Gimp and Photoshop and saw that Adobe had a page that claimed to compare the two. It never compares the two. It barely mentions Gimp. 10 months ago:
I was usig both in the early 2000’s, at that stage there wasn’t too much difference in the UIs. Gimp just seems to have stuck (more or less) with mid 2000’s design concepts in the UI

- Comment on How do you get into wild camping, it seems so overwhelming and a lot of information to try and gather? 11 months ago:
When I was living in the UK (Darlo and Swindon) there were some really good wild camping groups. They are happy for new people to join then and will do walks and camping trips (all the way through to multi night). Find a group of people and chat
Get pack fit by doing day walks with all your gear etc (and don’t over pack or under pack)

- Comment on Does Lemmy have a bump system? 11 months ago:
as well as what @jjagaimo@lemmy.ca said, there is also a scaled weight based on time since activity that is applied to hot/scaled sorting that allows things to bubble to the top but to slowly sink as they get older
