Terrifying birds. Nothing in media or zoos can prepare you for a close overhead swoop as it lands on the lowest branch of a nearby tree… maybe 8 feet from the Earth’s surface. Polarizing. I was left in awe and fearing for my life.
Yeah I had one swoop by me at the rim of Crater Lake in Oregon once. It came up from below me on an air draft and swooped by almost within arms reach. That was the first time I’d ever seen one in nature. I was not prepared.
September will be fine tho but don’t quote me on this
Thank you! I was hoping that was from an actual movie. I love stupid movies.
If stupid is your jam, this one is pretty wild. The actor playing the cultist guy was absolutely into it.
Upvoting this feels wrong
Maybe that’s just a few garden gnomes playing hide-and-seek in the field?
Sea dogs! We finally domesticated them!
I remember first seeing this 6 summers ago 🫥

Nah, that’s AI. If this were really Australia, it would be upside down, obviously.

I used to deadpan joke to junior field staff to watch out for the Boreal fen sharks. I would carry that joke as far as I could seeing how long they would believe it.
For the record the mythical boreal den shark lives in the wettest, shittiest part of the fen, where you have at best an island of peat the size of your boot to stand on. One step in any direction lands you in 80 cm of water, and an overtopped boot.
