I’ve done some seriously stupid shit in excel, mostly due to it being the only tool I had. By the time I handed the project off to someone else for maintenance/feature creep, there were VLOOKUP ranges spanning dozens of columns. VLOOKUP doesn’t care what column the target is named, only the offset from the beginning of the range. So being able to calculate CA minus W is pretty handy.
Yes, the project should have been a database. But these things happen when skinflint company meets annoyed amateur: you get a sprawling VBA abomination that, despite making actual developers want to choke a bitch, still works orders of magnitude better than the previous system.

If you have a hatchback, it’s even easier. Lean in, start the car, roll down the windows, walk around to the hatch. I don’t even bother doing more than one open and close anymore.

I don’t think I’ve thought about this episode in like 30 years. Yet I can hear the line like it was yesterday.

Has anyone seen Frank Bennedetto? He might be able to help with the popcorn sitch. Also, he still owes me five bucks.

Irish people were among the most oppressed white minorities back in the day.
Most of the Irish Americans I know are just keen on dishing it back out to whatever Other they can target. I’m also related to most of the Irish Americans I know, so take that as you will.

except for the AC compressor, which the generator actually would have had enough power to run, but not to kick-start.
This sentence triggered my PTSD. Imagine, if you will, a world where executives insist that datacenter AC be put on UPS battery. A world where those same executives declare that a different datacenter is just fine running at 95% power capacity because “it’s not 100%.” A world where inrush current does not exist. Except it does exist, but all professional advice is ignored until there are consequences. And even after such consequences are realized, one of those same executives still tries to run his home sump pump off of a desktop UPS during a power outage, pops it immediately, then goes and gets another from the office, which also pops immediately.
The sign in OP’s post will always be relevant somewhere.

I hate Windows. I will always fondly remember XP and Win 7. Windows 7 should’ve been the last Windows.
Windows 7 was the first and last version that I didn’t immediately (and lastingly) despise. Something something stopped clocks etc.
- Comment on Warner Bros. misses the days when we bought DVDs and Blu-Rays, and says streaming is just not the same 1 month ago:
I also miss the days where I bought physical media. These days, it’s hard to find something new that interests me, is actually available for purchase, and/or isn’t a super limited collectors set with steelbook etc that needlessly inflates the price. Good thing I have decades of physical media to, um… sit on a shelf unwatched, mostly. >_>

What happens if your school loses accreditation
Ooo ooo I know this one! That’s when you get a letter in the mail saying the feds have taken over your loan, the month payments start being due, and literally no other information. And then you call them and ask where to send payments and they say to send it wherever you had been sending it, seemingly missing the part where they just took over the loan. And then life happens and you realize you haven’t made payments. So you call and get the same runaround. And then you call later and give them an address update when you move, ask them about paying, and get treated like you have three heads. And then a few years later you get a very angry letter that the loan is in default. So you call and explain, and the person on the other end treats you like human filth, barely stopping short of using obscenities. So you hang up to let your anger simmer down, call back, and speak with “a manager.” Explain the whole thing top to bottom. That’s when you find out that when they took over your loan seven years ago, they immediately put it into the delinquent bin even though it was quite fresh at the time. And everyone you’ve talked to since just assumed you were a deadbeat.
Then you pay off the loan total using a credit card (because it’s thousands of dollars and you’re broke) and pay the interest again.
