I can’t speak for everyone, but if I’m not dead in the next 30 years I’m going to be extremely disappointed.

My car still has one of these, and I just happened to use it yesterday when the battery on my Bluetooth adapter died. Yes, my car is old. Given the state of new cars today, I think I’m gonna keep it as long as I can.

I think this is what you were going for, either that or anti-gambling. Or both, I dunno.
- Comment on US port workers and operators reach deal to end East Coast strike immediately | Tentative deal includes a 62% wage hike over six years 1 month ago:
Not just union jobs, but traditionally union industries like auto workers. I have a friend that works in a factory in the US south. Not union, but the pay and benefits are close to keep UAW from gaining a foothold. He would complain about them handing out flyers in front of the plant every so often.
After a recent incident that had him sweating bullets over potentially losing his job for something minor (and having to face management and HR alone), I told him to take the leaflet next time. I hope he does.

I’m playing whack a mole with my own ivy. Fuck the prior house owners for letting it get out of hand. I got all of it from the trees and the side of the house but it always grows back. I’m still finding sprouts from thick woody vines that have been there forever apparently. I tried removing it from the fence but realized very quickly that it’s the only thing holding it together. 😒
And fuck the English for bringing it over (we both know it was them, even their plants are colonizers).

Confused about eight seconds of footage being a selling point, but intrigued nonetheless.

This is really the only part of your rant that I was familiar with. So I can confirm: Kurzgesagt really is one of the best things you can spend time watching.

All valid points. But it’s the streaming thing that gets me. I would have assumed that streaming captured the lions share of the casual market, leaving mostly enthusiasts left buying physical media. Clearly I was wrong lol.

It boggles my mind that DVD still dominates physical media in 2024. I can count on one hand the number of DVDs I’ve bought in the past 10+ years, vs hundreds of Blu-ray titles (and a handful of 4k).

Makes sense, thanks for the insight. Agreed on the effort needed to restore Cannibal not lining up with the limited nature. Bummer about the film getting lost, but that explains why it’s been DVD-only for so long.

It’s two fold.
One is quality of care. I was in a program that technically offered DBT. In a month’s worth of daily sessions (25 hours a week), we got two worksheets that introduced a couple of DBT concepts. Each was discussed for 50 minutes and then never spoken of again. I can count on one finger the number of therapists I’ve had that did active CBT work. And I hadn’t even heard of ACT until recently - one of the group facilitators in the program I’m attending brought it in as a passion project. The information is good but he’s struggling with the group dynamic.
The other is, it’s not that insurance doesn’t cover the techniques, it’s that providers may or may not work with the insurance your employer chose. At my last job, 75% of the in-network list in like a 25 mile radius comprised of one organization that was basically a pill mill with a raft of overwhelmed social workers. It was maddening. And the only options were pay out the ass for out of network, or get a new job and hope it wasn’t more of the same.
The US “health” “care” system no longer exists. Nobody in the pyramid cares about your health except for maybe your doctor. And there’s only so much they can do. It’s purely a “medical services industry,” whose sole purpose extracting profits from misery.
Hail corporate. 🫥
