Yeah. Sure. Become a crab. IF YOU WANT TO BE AN ASSHOLE.

Be better. Be a squid.

Yeah, sure, as if I’d like to trash all my points I put in IQ.
Become an octopus and keep all that XP

can normal animals in nature get fat? like a particularly lazy tiger or something
skulblaka@kbin.social 2 years ago
Sure, provided the food is available and doesn't cost too many calories to obtain. The real problem lies in the fact that most fat animals get hunted by other, faster, hungrier carnivores. Sure you can get fat in nature but it's a hell of a feat to stay fat (and alive) in nature.
threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 2 years ago
Bears get fat every year to prepare for hibernation.

If someone is feeding it.
Coasting0942@reddthat.com 2 years ago
Having tasted freshly boiled crab, I’d be concerned about being caught by some land apes.
PM_ME_FEET_PICS@sh.itjust.works 2 years ago
Just don’t get caught.

Genrawir@lemmy.world 2 years ago
Fun fact: Through a process of convergent evolution called carcinisation, crustaceans have evolved into crabs several times.
JohnDClay@sh.itjust.works 2 years ago
It is inevitable!
Thranduil@lemmy.world 2 years ago
You also have crabs become non crabs
SchizoDenji@lemm.ee 2 years ago
It’s also a debated theory.
Genrawir@lemmy.world 2 years ago
Is it really? I figured it was just another textbook example of convergent evolution, as that is where I learned about it. I know my comment should have said ‘evolved crab-like bodies’ instead, as they’d still be genetically distinct, and not taxonomically true crabs. Now I feel like I have to read up on what the exact nature of the debate is.
