A bit all over the place lately. I found out I’m having a kid, which is very exciting, and pretty much the thing giving me motivation at work right now. I work in a kitchen and generally like what I do, but upper management is awful and it’s only going to get worse. We got a new big wig recently, so now a bunch of changes are being made to make us more “efficient”.
I’m considering a career change, but I’m planning to take full parental leave (8 weeks for fathers where I am) when the baby comes in the fall, and plan on also taking my vacation during that time (either right before or right after), so I want to wait until that’s all done first. I’ll probably look for a new job in the new year. Some days it’s hard to wait out that long though, today was rough. If every day is like today I don’t know how I’ll make it through the rest of the year. I expect a mass quitting soon if that’s the case.

Santa keeps a naughty and nice list and only gives gifts to nice kids, and coal to naughty kids. The woman is asking him if he’s naughty in a sexual manner, he says yes, she reveals she’s in fact not a dominatrix or whatever and is Santa Claus instead trying to figure out if the man is naughty or nice

!newcommunities@lemmy.world is a great place to discover new communities, as for big ones that already exist I’m sure there’s probably a list of big communities out there somewhere, otherwise browsing by All > Top 6 Hours or All > Hot will give you a good mix of everything. Then you can add communities you like from there

- Comment on Your all-time favorite game? Let's discuss the best options! 1 week ago:
I like this way of doing it. For me:
Nostalgia and all-time enjoyment, probably Pokémon Gen 2 / Remakes (Silver / Gold / Crystal / SoulSilver / HeartGold). I consider them all one game of different “flavours”. If I had to choose one I’d probably go with SoulSilver. The remakes added some much needed modern conveniences, and having your Pokémon follow you around in the overworld was awesome.
Pure “this game is so good”, probably Elden Ring. Before the DLC I’d probably go with Dark Souls III because of Gael and Friede, but Shadow of the Erdtree blew me away.
Most hours played, Skyrim at over 5,000. HITMAN is in second place at a bit over 1,300.

+1 for patient gamers too. It’s a great community with great discussion. I don’t think I’ve had a single bad interaction on there
- Comment on What games have you sunk the most time into? 2 months ago:
I don’t have any friends who play Hitman, and it doesn’t get talked about much here, so I’m always happy to talk about this game! It’s probably top 5 of all time for me. I hope you play Hitman 3, it’s good
- Comment on What games have you sunk the most time into? 2 months ago:
Some of my all-time favourite games. When Hitman 2016 came out I used to do silent assassin suit-only speedruns of Sapienza, honestly one of my favourite challenges to do since I usually suck at video games. No idea how I got good at that one very specific challenge, but being good at something feels pretty good! I estimate 75% of my playtime is probably in just Sapienza. I also really liked Hokkaido too. The patient zero mission on that map was one of my favourites.
If you get the chance to pick up Hitman 3 on sale I’d recommend it still. The regular levels are all great. I agree that the DLCs and stuff were annoying, but I still got them anyway and don’t regret it. More content for Hitman will always be a plus with me. I won’t buy the cosmetic stuff though, that’s not worth the money to me.

My games with over 1k hours (approximately):
Skyrim - 5,300
HITMAN - 1,350
Forza Motorsport 6 - 1,200
Other games with > 400 hours: Fallout 4 (mostly modding), Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Oblivion, all the Bungie Halo games, Red Dead Redemption 2, Battlefield 4, Minecraft, Dark Souls III, Elden Ring

I wasn’t aware Holiday Inn had a 4K release, I’ll have to keep an eye out for it. The movies I listed are just the ones I have on 4K, including DVDs and standard blu-ray I’m at about 100 right now which I know is still quite small, but my girlfriend, who I live with, has also been getting into physical media for movies, so I have a feeling the collection will start to grow pretty quickly

This is my first post on this community as I’ve only recently gotten really into collecting, so hopefully this post isn’t breaking any unwritten rules or anything. Also, the exact release date, from what I read online, seems to be November 5th 2024. It’s celebrating its 70th anniversary this year with the 4K release

€20 per year? That’s crazy. My girlfriend and I share a plan and combined pay almost $150 (about €100) per month (so $75 = €50 per month each)

About $40/mo. for 100mbps for wifi. Cellular, I share with my girlfriend who gets a discount through work, we share 200GB for about $150/mo.

At least home wifi isn’t as insane as cellular here I guess. We get American ads on the break room TV at work, their cellular plans are pennies compared to what we have to pay north of the border

I get half and pay double, and thought that was quite reasonable
What are your cellular plans like?

By the time I get to playing a series usually several games in that series have come out. I usually play games that are 5+ years old, I don’t have time to keep up with current releases and that’s more expensive anyway. Playing on a multi-year delay keeps me away from over-hype of game releases and by the time I play them they’re patched, have all dlc, whatever else is applicable. I don’t do it for every game obviously but it’s my typical way of buying games
