‘A new frontier of potential abuse’: Is it legitimate to charge someone flying to a funeral more than a leisure traveler?

Maybe health company can disclose ALL data so if you have cancer company can charge you more?

These bastards will steal wallets and jewellery if they see someone dying on the street. Fucking ghouls.

They’ll commit every evil imaginable if the reward is profit instead of retribution.

Back in the day, there was a bereavement discount you could get if you asked. Sure glad they put a stop to that, the shareholders would be furious!

      I don’t think they’ve stopped that. I’m pretty sure it’s still a thing.

When my grandmother died and I had to fly out for the funeral, American Airlines said they don’t do it. I called their AAdvantage customer service line.

They already do. Book months in advance, like you would for a vacation, is normally cheaper than booking last minute for a funeral.

I’ll be sure to ask my mom to die in 3 months from now so that i can get my seat on a plane. I’s supposed to be that you give the airline a copy of the death certificate and they allow you to fly for a discounted rate.

Exactly this. I needed a day return on short notice the last time I had to take a flight for a funeral, so that would be business price for tickets rather than leisure price. About 10x price difference, but there was no alternative if I was going to be there.

"Mildly infuriating?” If people aren't actually enraged, it's because we're already drained.

Sure it is!! Get them when they’re grieving is what me pa used to say! 👍

I remember him well. He would never have stolen from a dead. He would always have waited and charged the inheritors an inheritance fee (+ grieving fee).

Exactly! It’s nice to know he still has honorable friends in important places 🙏

I miss him. It’s so sad said he got shot in the stomach during an argument in a bar… 🙁

As always: “if a headline ends in a question mark, the answer is ‘no.”
