I really hope conspiracy theorists start looking at the forbidden sky orb, maybe through telescopes for better detail.
Get woke

I met one who did. He called it ‘sungazing’ and was certain that the practice charged him with positive healing energy. He figured it was safe because he did it near sunrise and sunset. He was trying to look a little longer each time and build his endurance and get more sun energy. I haven’t seen him in a few years so I can’t update on outcomes.
YouTube is one hell of a drug. I hope he has moved onto less harmful beliefs.

I used to immerse myself in the depths of the burning eye in the sky all the time as a kid. Stared for minutes on end. May have some permanent eye damage, but I also used to press fingers into my eyeballs at night to see the blobiverse, and gazed into the perfect red of my laser pointers. I was a dumb kid. Still am at 35. Though my hearing is perfect.

Same. My parents told me not to look straight into the sun, i saw it as a challenge.
penguinsAreRapists@lemmy.world 2 years ago
Haha I also enjoyed staring into blobiverse. Oi also loved the smell of car exhaust

The phrase eye contact implies it’s an eye.

Do you seriously believe it isn’t? Time to wake up.
moipe@lemmy.world 2 years ago
I do question that. In fact, I asked the orb what the deal was. The orb said [apply sun burn to face and arms] and that was the end of the discussion. I find him to be firm but fair and when I step out of line he says [apply sun burn to top of feet].
SuckMyWang@lemmy.world 2 years ago
Your feet don’t burn as much because they’re further away from the sun
Furbag@lemmy.world 2 years ago
This is so true. I once decided to patriotically defy the government and stare at the sky orb, and then the government stole my sight to prevent me from seeing the truth. WAKE UP PEOPLE!
OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 2 years ago
There’s a stove top surface in the kitchen that you are not allowed to make direct contact with and you don’t question that?
sentinelthesalty@lemmy.world 2 years ago
You are not allowed to look at it if you aren’t worthy. Unlike you all me, the chosen champion of Ra, is allowed to gaze upon its magnificent form without any repercussions. And it has enlightened me, it has elevated my consiousness and temporarily experince a higher plane of existance, during what you lesser folk call “Sun stroke induced hallucinations”.
FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 years ago
Oh no, I question that all the time. The government should not be stopping me from staring at the sky orb! First amendment and second amendment rules!
SuckMyWang@lemmy.world 2 years ago
I heard YouTube banned videos showing that if you look at the orb through a magnifying glass you can see things the government don’t want you to see. If they’re banning videos about it they must be really scared of people finding out the truth

I have so little faith in the average user nowadays that I am slightly anxious that someone will take you at face value and do it

Do not believe the controversy spread by Big Tech! Instead, ask why they’re trying to distract us from the moon! What are they hiding?
grabyourmotherskeys@lemmy.world 2 years ago
Pretty sure the first amendment just prevents the government from looking at the sky orb.

This type of stuff always reminds me of “Welcome to Nightvale”.
obinice@lemmy.world 2 years ago
As children, we all questioned it and we’re curious about it, then we learned what it was and the reasons it was dangerous to look at it, and went on with our lives.
AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 years ago
Pretty sure you meant were, not we’re, but this is the rare autocorrect success, as it makes sense both ways.

I was just recently thinking about some planet from Star Trek where there are certain limitations, like the day being too hot for humans but the night being ok. And than I recognized exactly this fact.
luthis@lemmy.nz 2 years ago
I literally had a nightmare about this, I posted it in the dreams community:
paddirn@lemmy.world 2 years ago
You’re allowed to make eye contact with it if you want to, nobody will stop you.
Pons_Aelius@kbin.social 2 years ago
Yep.
IIRC: An early (pre-telescope) astronomer did for tens of minutes at a time to document sun spots, but it took weeks for his site to return and it was likely permanently damaged because of it.
MotoAsh@lemmy.world 2 years ago
Sheesh, and all he had to do was invent cameras to spare his eyes. For shame.
misterundercoat@lemmy.world 2 years ago
Look into the orb long enough, and the orb will graciously unburden you from sight, because you have done all the seeing. Very efficient.
quinkin@lemmy.world 2 years ago
At least once.

Science tells you otherwise though! coincidence?
