Saw Thunderbolts in theaters, better than the last few of these MCU movies. I liked it.
Also rewatched all of Henry Selleck’s movies, except for Wendell and Wild which I need to watch tonight, which is
Coraline is a masterpiece, especially in 3D. I broke out my Index HMD to watch it, which was fun.
Renegades - Keifer Sutherland and Lou Diamond Phillips. It was alright. Highlight was the hilariously reactive flinching of a dead woman as shots were fired.
Empire Strikes Back - I mean...it was May 4th. Watched the 4K80 edition and didn't miss any of the digital edits from later versions.
I randomly watched Strictly Ballroom (1992) which was Baz Lurhmans directing debut. I vaguely recall it being a reasonably big deal, checking in it made 80milon a budget of 3 and is the third biggest grossing Aussie movie of all time so says Wikipedia.
Low budget but was a straight up feel good quirky Luhrmann movie.
Love love love that movie. And the credits scene on the rooftop ʘ‿ʘ
Watched Star wars EP 4 a new hope on Sunday, I usually watch empire or rotj if I feel like some star wars, it was nice going back to the beginning. 8/10 because I can only get the remake version, followed up with Spaceballs
Rewatched groundhog dog, classic rom com I expect willhold up for a very long time
Street trash, remake of an old Troma movie, low budget gory horror face melting craziness
Jesus Christ Superstar (1973)
Superstars Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s style of composition is obvious in this operatic rock musical which is surprising given its shoestring budget as we are now accustomed to Buzzing blockbuster affairs in musicals like Wicked, Wonka, and even Joker 2. Despite it appearing as a college production at times, the Mystifying and energetic numbers and a dash of Hosanna ensures Everything’s Alright.
The Graduate (1967)
Watch this for its surprising cinematography, if you’re a fan of Simon & Garfunkel, and a specious glimpse of the 60s for its protagonist is anything but likable and its message is painfully dated.
Land of the Gods (Dev Bhoomi) (2016)
A simple story of the few days a man spends attempting to reconcile with his past set in the backdrops of the Himalayans and immersed in their Indic traditions.
Mayhem (2017)
Ignore the thin veneer of a premise and forget your logic and this movie succeeds in exactly being average on all fronts in this self-contained take of 28 Day’s rage virus.
Movies at the top of the list does not necessarily signify the top movie is a masterpiece while the bottom being a calamity, it simply means I enjoyed it more (or less) than the other movies of the week. Using a previous week’s review as a prime example, the gap between the best and worst movie of that week is <1 point on a 10 point scale.
“The Gorge” on AppleTV.
It was not good.
Can you elaborate please? I’m intrigued by the premise and love the main stars as actors. Was it really that mid?
The story was clichéd and predictable. The actors did an okay job with a weak script, full of hackneyed dialogue and gorge-sized plot holes. The action scenes were filmed in nearly pitch-black conditions, even with my screen brightness cranked to the max I could still barely make out what was going on, not that it was all that fun to watch anyway. The romance plot was okay, but still seemed rushed and contrived.
I mean, if you enjoy trite and basic horror flicks, I guess give it a go. I’d skip it though; you won’t miss much.
Rewatched stand by me.
I always forget how brilliant those kids were, and how amazing the direction and cinematography are. It’s a 10/10 movie
I saw The Monkey a couple days ago. It was pretty funny and violent, and actually good acting. Enjoyable movie.
We are Still Here.
Under the radar horror that hit me just right. They have an absolute blast with it.
The Steamroller and The Violin. Short (45mins) by Tarkovsky. It his like graduate film or something. I’ll look it up in a moment.
Mickey 17. I listened to the audiobook earlier this year and I prefered that to the movie.
We started watching The Count of Monte Cristo and we’ll finish it soon. If you like the recent Musketeer films then you’ll like this.

We watched Dark City this week for movie night… it’s a city full of people owned and manipulated by aliens. It was made in 1998 but looks horrible for when it was made. Lots of cool ideas, lots of cool themes, I think it would actually be a good candidate for a remake. If you like hideous sci-fi movies with bad acting but cool themes it’s for you
